Can you recommend your double stroller? When LO#2 is born DS will be almost 16 months old.
We currently have a Baby Jogger City Mini and we used the carseat adapter with a Graco infant seat when DS was a newborn. Does anyone know if my adapter for the single will work on the double? I would hate to buy another $75 adapter that will only be used for 3-4 months (DS is big and tall). I like the City Mini and I recommend it to others.
I'm considering a City Mini Double, but I'm not positive it's the best option and I don't want to spend that kind of money without being sure. I like how easy it is to steer. I like that it's light weight (although DH and I are often together when using the stroller anyway). I love how easy it is to fold up with one hand. I love the large shade cover. Dislikes: DS often seems uncomfortable when he's buckled in. He'd prefer to sit up completely straight. We don't have a belly bar, tray, cupholder, etc and would likely need these acessories.
We have a mini van and use the stroller for shopping, short walks, and occassional trips to the boardwalk, zoo, aqaurium, etc.
TIA!
Re: need double stroller recs
I have the City Mini Double and I love it. The adapter from your single will NOT work with the double. We opted not to use the carseat with the double, it was slightly less convenient, but the adapter made the stroller much heavier.
I think the newest City Mini Double has a removeable board or something that make the seat sit a bit more upright, but I'm not postitive.
The 2011 BJCM have upright straps and something called a PE board that makes the seatback stiff. You can order PE boards for older models or you can try cutting a piece of cardboard and sliding it in the back.
FWIW, I have a Graco with a fairly upright seatback and DD still pulls herself up by the child tray. I think it is an age thing. I've read that once they are older toddlers many kids don't mind a seat with more of a recline.
I've recently read sopme good reviews of the Valco lattitude doubles. I think they have more upright seats and a more accessible basket. However, the folding is not as good as the BJCM. I also considered the Bumbleride Indie Twin, which is a beautiful stroller. I have a Bumbleride Queen B which I love, but I went with the BJCMD because I got it for a great price and you can't beat the fold.
You would need a new adapter for the City Mini Double, but I think this is an amazing stroller. I opted for the Bumbleride Indie Twin over the City Mini Double, but I often have buyer's remorse and think I should have gotten then BJCMD. I recently bought the City Mini single and LOVE it, so this adds to my regret. Sigh.
I have heard (from BJ salesmen) that often moms prefer the air-filled wheels of the Summit over the foam wheels of the Mini when they get to the double strollers - the air filled tires handle better under the weight of two kids. The best I know of this comparison is that the Bumbleride Indie Twin did handle slightly better than the City Mini Double when I tested them out with weight of 2 kids. The BJCMD does have great handling, though; and if you aren't comparing it to another stroller you might never notice a difference.
this! my biggest rec would be to get something with air filled tires.
we have a phil and ted which we've had and used for 2 1/2 years. love it. I did test drive the BJ city classes (that was a long time ago) and the bumbleride. both smooth rids. I preferred the canopies and the push of the bumbleride, preferred the fold of the BJ (bumbleride is bulky fold), and the narrow compact Phil & Ted ...which is really nice in a big city and seen often here... I see more P&T doubles than any other here... I have seen some urban mountain buggies... a friend in chicago has the mountain buggy (one single, one double) and loves it... would own no other brand.
