TMI pregnancy/sex question

We just got the "all clear" to have sex again so we test drove the whole thing this morning. With Bella my hips and backs of my legs used to hurt after sex but that didn't start until around 30 weeks or later. This time it started around week 16 or so. My pelvis, backs of my legs and now my calves are killing me! We did "it" 2 hours ago and it's still hurting! I asked my OB and he said "it probably has something to do with your sciatic nerve and the position during sex"... well we've tried various ones and nothing seems to make it better or worse it just aches for hours... anyone else had this?

Re: TMI pregnancy/sex question

  • I found it pretty painful from early on, but that was because there were two in there and it put a lot of pressure on my cervix. I'm not a doctor but the fact that your legs are hurting does make it sound like it's related to your sciatic nerve. Not to be all TMI, but did you try different positions or just go with one (since if it's the latter, you might want to avoid that one next time).

Lisa, nothing's too TMI for me!  I feel bad for DH because today he said "well if it hurts for so long after then maybe we just shouldn't do it"... for me, pregnancy is the time we don't have to worry about BC so we should go nuts :) This time it was about 2 hours of aching. We've tried several different positions... ok two, on my side and him on top and they both hurt after. During it feels great but after it's like I'm a crippled 80 yr old because of the achiness of my legs... This pregnancy is really taking a toll on this mama!

Hmm. Him on top was the only position I could tolerate when I was pregnant - everything else was just too much pressure, weird as it seems. If that didn't work, I've got nothing, sorry. Sad (Oh, and I totally get you about it being the only time you don't have to worry about BC! I was really looking forward to that part of it so it was a big downer to find out it was so painful for me so early on.)
