What is safe to relieve this?

It's too late to call my doctor or pharmacist so I was wondering if anyone here knew the best things to take for constipation. Benefiber? Metamucil? Something else altogether? Thanks

Re: What is safe to relieve this?

  • I would assume it's probably fine, but go for something more whole like prune juice, or dried prunes...lots of water, maybe some light exercise e.g. stretching.

This. I don't remember offhand what my doc says is safe for constipation, but dried apricots are my lifeblood. Gets me going pretty quickly too.

  • My doctor gives a list, and though I don't see prune juice on mine, benefiber and metamucil are ok. And so is colace, which is what I take almost every night! I also had it after my c-section, and I highly recommend it. No side effects and it works gently. I don't find myself running to the can!

  • My go-to is papaya.  It's amazingly effective.  :)

  • The Fiber One Bars do it for me!  Also, my OB said OTC colace is just fine.
