Hello ladies,
I know this is an old question but so far I have been very fortunate with my toddler and he has never had a temp. Well I just checked his temp with a forehead therm and it read 102.5. Would you call the dr for that temp? I read conflicting things on google. I also know that some people don't believe in giving tylenol at that temp because a fever is the body's natural way of fighting off infection. However, I am paranoid and I gave him some about an hour ago and his temp is still the same. Would you call the dr?
Thanks!
Re: What temp do you call the doctor?
I give Ibuprofen and/or Tylenol for any temp over 101. I call the pedi for any temp over 103 that doesn't respond to meds or any temp higher than 101 that lasts for more than 24 hours per my pedi's orders.
This exactly. Try giving LO some gatorade or pedialyte or even a freezy pop. Get the internal temperature down.
Strip LO down to a onesie or diaper too.

We call at 104 , ER at 105.
try a luke warm bath and some mortin. It seems to work better for us that the tylenol.
ETA: I would still call when they are open for an appointment. I wouldn't call after hours for that fever.
DD had a fever last night of 103, I stripped her down to her diaper and alternated Tylenol and Motrin. I called the Pedi this morning and took her in. Her ears were clear as well as her nose and chest.
Her pedi said the fever will probably last 24 hours and to keep on with the tylenol and motrin.
She's had a runny nose, cough, congestion which the Dr. said was pretty much a virus. All we can do is let it run its course and give her plenty of fluids.
I usually end up taking DD in when she has a fever... they like to see her to make sure her ears are clear among other things. I would probably wait out the weekend unless your pedi has Saturday hours (ours does for sick visits) as long as there are no other major symptoms.
