Two Under 2

baby monitors....no interference with two in the house?

I LOVE the monitor I have with DD, however, it is digital and supposedly if we get another one of the exact same kind there will be interference.  We have the summer infant bestview handheld video monitor.  I am not sure what we should do!!  anyone have any ideas?

  • Summer Infant has a video monitor with multiple cameras and a split screen that also will cycle back and forth between rooms. You can have up to 4 cameras with it (it comes with 2, but you can purchase additionals). We are planning on getting that once DD#2 is born. We currently have the Summer Infant Day and Night video monitor and also love it. I don't know how people live with just audio monitors anymore. I think it has not only given DH and I peace of mind, but I think it has also helped DD become a better sleeper because we only go into the room when we know she is awake (ie sitting or standing up in the crib and not just whining or talking).

Sorry to tell you but that is the one I have and it does not have a split screen.  You have to go back and forth from one camera to the other (I have multiple cameras) and you can not have it on two rooms at the same time...so you can not hear both rooms at the same time.  This is a problem at night especially because you can only have it on one child at a time....it doesn't tell you the other child is crying unless you have it on that room.  I have two cameras on the one I have and yes you can have up to four cameras...but it does not monitor more than one at a time.

  • I just ordered this one.  We obviously haven't used it so I can't tell you how it works for us, but I have a friend who uses it and loves it and it also gets good reviews.

I have 3 kids and have only used audio monitors without any issues. We use the Sony monitors and have 3 of them and none of them interfere.

I really don't need monitors for my girls, but still keep them at night since we just can't hear them from our room down the hall.

  • I have the Summer Slim&Secure. The monitor has a scan feature that rotates through up to four cameras.

  • I have a mobi digital and my SIL has the summer and we don't get interference.  When we both had the summer we did.

  • The camera with the split screens is fairly new... I have a friend who has it and it does actually have a split screen for up to four cameras... of course you can only get audio from one, but we live in a small house and turn the volume on the monitors down at night anyway, so all we would have to do is look at the monitor to decipher which child is crying.
