Legalzoom wills, are they legit?

I just want something very basic that leaves everything to my son, and leaves custody to my brother, then my mom, then my aunt. Will legalzoom be sufficient?

Re: Legalzoom wills, are they legit?

  • I don't know anything about Legalzoom wills, but I was looking into making a will this week, and one of my co-workers recommended Quicken Willmaker.   I bought one off Amazon for less than $20, and I'm going with that.

I also got personal recommendations for lawyers to draw one up, but think I will stick with the Quicken Willmaker for now.

  • Yes, they are.  Our financial advisor recommended it if we didn't want to spend $500 on a family law lawyer to draft one up for us.  He did say it was a good bargaining tool to get lawyers to drop their rates a little too.

  • Eh, software is only as good as the most recent updates.  Lawyers keep up with changes in the law which can happen daily.

For peace of mind, I would go to an actual attorney who can answer your questions and who knows the law for your state.  We plan to have an estates lawyer look over our wills even though I am a lawyer myself (i don't do that type of work).
