How much longer? 3 CM and 50% effaced

At my apt. yesterday I found out I was 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I know this could still mean two more weeks, but it could also mean any day right? My mom thinks based on her experience that I will probably deliver next week. DH can't stop smiling and asking, how do you feel, have you lost your mucus plug? Dr. also mentioned that we could schedule an induction if we wanted for the 15th of Dec. I have heard so many stories of induction making a harder delivery. So not sure I want to go there. However, the thought of moving DS birthday as far way from Christmas as possible is very inciting!

What has been your experience? Thoughts about induction?

I doubt that you would make it to your induction date at this point, so schedule one...probably won't make a difference!

I wasn't induced but I've known a few successful induction stories and a few that resulted in c-sections.

Honestly, your body is already making good progress, I would just wait it out. Walk around, have some sex, then walk around some more!

Congrats on progress! As far as induction goes, I would pretty much never really suggest that to anyone. You seem to be doing well on your own. Being induced makes chances for a c/s higher and speaking from experience, I don't think it's a good time. The natural chemicals will help you much more than anything synthetic.

I was 3cm's 80% for 5 day's with DS before my water broke and even then I had to be "induced" because my contractions were pretty much all over the place.

OP--I've been 2cm and 50% for a month. You can make progress and then stop making progress. Everyone is different.

There's no way to tell. I was told yesterday that I'm also 3 cm dilated and 50% effaced, but it doesn't mean much. It means I'm closer to being fully dilated and effaced, but there's no way to predict when I'll go into labor. Some women walk around partially dilated for weeks before going into active labor.

I keep reading about these convenience-inductions and they make no sense to me at all.
