A co-worker of mine just gave me a huge tub of clothes for Anne. They are super cute outfits, mostly Gymbo, some TCP, and a few from BRU (Koala Kids). I asked if I could pay her and she told me to give her whatever I want for them.
WDYT? For those of you who have garage-sale shopped, what is the going rate per outfit?
Thanks!
Re: what do you pay for used clothes?
I think a great deal at a garage sale is $0.50/piece. That said, most of the time I find pricing is at $1.00/piece.
Sometimes you'll find used prices much higher, say $5/piece for name brand clothing, but generally I think those people are nuts unless I see something *super* adorable and in *super* good shape I can't resist.
I would pay her at least $1/piece if they are in decent shape. Maybe a little more if they are really nice and not stained, or throw in some cookies.
WHen I say at least $1/piece, if an outfit is 2 pieces, that's $2 for an outfit, just to clarify.
I think your offer sounds very reasonable.
She'll be happy with that.
I think Kathy is right on at about $1/piece at garage sales. I will pay a little more for Gymbo just because I know how well that stuff holds up and that I'll sell it once Maya outgrows it.
I generally only buy brand name stuff via resale - Gymbo, Gap, Children's Place and Old Navy - everything else generally falls apart after one kid.
Yard sales - about $1-3 per piece, or sometimes $5-8 if it's a whole outfit and really nice.
At OUAC, Gymbo shirts are usually $5-7 each and pants are $7-10 each (at least in Paige's current size, I think they're a little less for smaller sizes)...
I'd probably offer more than $1 per piece if they're in really good shape, in outfits/sets, and things you are actually going to use. When someone gives me a tub of clothes, I usually find that I only use about half of what they've given me (not my style, stained, etc).
