Houston Babies

1st trimester questions....

I think I am around 5 weeks. I don't have my first appointment intil next week. My question for the first trimester is......Is it normal to have cramping feelings? I've also been having super bad headaches. What can you take for headaches? Any advice on how I'm feeling. I never knew I would be so stressed out on how the baby is doing...........

Re: 1st trimester questions....

  • Congrats! I dont know about the cramping - but I had headaches throughout my PG. My doctor said I could take Tylenol.

  • I had cramping with DS#1 at the very beginning.  It's very normal.  For headaches, you can take Tylenol.  Congratulations!!

  • Yes, it is completly normal to have cramps. It is your uterus growing to make room for the baby. I would only be alarmed and call your doctor if you have cramping and bleeding at the same time.

The only thing you can take is Tylenol.

  • I think they say the headaches are caused by all the hormonal changes, very normal to have.

As the other posters mentioned, cramping isn't unusual either. It's kinda like your uterus giving the new life tight hugs and getting use to something else being in there.Smile

  • Thanks everyone for the advice, but I didn't know I would feel my uterus streching at 5 weeks!
  • make sure you're drinking LOTS of water. I get headaches when i'm dehydrated, and super crazy thirst was one of my first pregnancy symptoms.

  • Thanks! I have actually been very thirsty! I wake up in the middle of the night to drink!
  • congrats!

As everyone else said, headaches are normal, often because of either hormone fluctuations or dehydration.

Cramping is also normal. It can be because of your uterus stretching for baby, again, because of hormonal imbalances, or it could even possibly be baby implanting into the uterine wall.

    Either ways, congrats again!
