Reese absolutely LOVES the bath. seriously if nothing else calms her down, all I have to do is put her in the tub and she is happy as can be. There is a swim school right down the street from us (Sarah's School of Fish) and they have a Baby and Me class that runs for six weeks, teaching them how to float, go under water, etc and says it is for children 3-36 months of age. I was thinking of enrolling us in one in the spring (she'll be at least 6 months old by the time the class starts).
What do you think? is it too early? i'm obviously not expecting her to learn to swim yet, but I think it would be great for her to learn how to float and other safety skills for the water. Any other swim schools that you can recommend?
Re: When did you do swim lessons?

We did self-rescue lessons (Infant Swimming Resource) with Eli as soon as he was old enough to qualify. They require that the child hit certain developmental milestones, otherwise they won't be successful. He was 7 months when he started. They proved to be worth every penny b/c a week after we finished lessons we went on a cruise and MIL was holding him in the ocean and went to sit and dropped him in the water. I didn't bat an eye b/c he was flipped over onto his back before he hit the water. He was upset, but he knew exactly what to do.
We will be taking him back for his refresher series this year to learn the swim-float-swim sequence that is only taught to the >1 yr kids.
We started almost right at 6 months and it was a lot of fun!
We went to Dynamo and took the classes at Agnes Scott in Decatur.
