I posted a while back about my what to wear to DH's holiday party dilemma. I found out yesterday that it's really more cocktail party type attire. Or something close to it.
So... after trying on a million and half outfits, I bought this today:
I am not freakishly anorexic looking like the model, but the whole empire waist style of the dress is very flattering. It is, however, a little bit tight on me. I splurged on the high-waisted spanx to suck everything in, and I'm hoping that between that and another week of daily running will make the dress a little bit looser. ETA: I'd love some of that magical nestie dust if you've got any to spare. Send all "drop an inch or two" dust my way please.
I need advice though on shoes. What kind of shoes would you wear with this dress??? I'm planning to wear dangly/sparkly earrings.

Re: NBR: Fashion advice + dust
Definatly a sparkly shoe. Silver would be pretty or you could wear red. What color are your earrings and I only ask becuase I would match the shoes to the earring color.
Since it's a solid dress you could go more bold on the shoe. DSW has a ton of cute ones right now.
Can you wear heels? Do you like wearing heels? How high?
Oh and *****drop a few inches***** dust
(I'd like that dust when your finished with it
)
The evening involves a sit down dinner, so yes, I can definitely do heels.
If I had to stand all evening, no way. Height - IDK. Nothing over 4 inches? I don't like absurdly high platform heels, but I think I could rock a several inch heel.
I have several pairs of earrings already that could work. Most of them are silver or have silver in them. I was leaning toward a silver shoe too, but I so rarely get dressed up that I feel like I need multiple opinions.

My first thought was the silver strappy heels that I wore with a similar dress to BIL's wedding.
So yeah, I say silver too (if you don't have any and wear an 8.5 you're welcome to borrow mine).
If you are wanting to go trendy I would go with a booty:
(I would go with the black but I love black and blue together)
Or a classic style would be the heel:

I have some cute and comfortable strappy silver heels in a size 8 if you want to borrow some. The heel is about 2", but they are still sexy. I get a lot of compliments on them.
Oh yes, and here's a sprinkling of **magic shrinking dust***.

No bootie. I can't do the bootie. They would make my legs look horribly stumpy, short and fat. I mean, even more so than they already are.

Probably bare legs. I was leaning toward strappy silver shoes when I bought the dress, so I got the high-waist spanx that cut off above the knee.

In terms of shoe size, I'm about an 8-8.5, but I have absurdly wide feet.
My feet have grown in width with each subsequent pregnancy. If we have a third child, I'll probably have to resort to wearing flip flops and Birkenstocks.
I really appreciate the offers of shoe loans, but unless your feet tend to be on the wider side, I'm probably SOL. I did try on some very pretty dress shoes last winter but then cheaped out and didn't buy them, so I do have hope that I can find something that will work.

My feet are pretty much average width, so that may not work....
You'll find something though, and it will be hawt.
I can't remember if the party is this weekend, but Zappos has free overnight shipping (and free return shipping). If you've got time, you'd probably have a lot of luck finding something silver and sexy and in your size!
