So we're done w/BF'ing...by accident

We had gotten down to one BF session a day for the past several weeks.  I was nursing her at night only.  Well, she picked up a cold this past weekend and was really miserable Sunday.  When we were getting her ready for bed, I had to suction her, which she did not like at all and screamed the whole time.  As soon as I was done, DH picked her up to console her and sat down in the rocker in her room.  She immediately put her head down on his chest, started sucking her thumb and closed her eyes.  She was out soon after.  So, I didn't get a chance to nurse her - she obviously didn't need it and I wasn't going to wake her.  Monday night was exactly the same.  

I've got mixed feelings about it....I mean, I had told DH I would stop once she started on whole milk.  But I've been hanging on to that last session for weeks now - and I know it's been more for me than for her.  Fortunately, I haven't been the least bit sore.  But....I'm still kinda sad....which is funny because for the first 6 months I swear I contemplated quitting every day.

    I totally understand how you feel. I really loved those night sessions.  While it is a relief to be done I still miss it. Especially now that Matt seems so grown up!

    awww, sweetie, you'll be fine and so will Miss D.  I know what you mean about the night feeding, it was my special time with N, full of hugs and comfort.  {{HUGS}}

    We dropped our night session about about week earlier than I had planned because of Ellie's cold too.  We are still snuggling and having a sippy and singing and enjoying some us time at bedtime.  Hopefully you can find something like that that works for you!

    Left Hug  I understand. As much as I am ready to stop BF'ing, I am also dreading it. Next week is my last week on the pump though and I am planning to throw a party to celebrate the end of that.
