We generally like more classic but unconventional names (or at the very least, not too popular). We like names that have some history. I definitely would shy away from any name that seems trendy (although the LN as a FN trend doesn't bother me).
We like the name Beckett as a FN but I'm having a hard time shaking
the feeling that it's a trendy name despite the literary and historical
associations. I'm not sure why I feel that way...
Does anyone here feel that Beckett is a trendy name?
Also, I've had a couple of people tell me that Beckett sounds a bit feminine - WDYT? This would be a FN for a boy...

First, yes it is a little trendy. Is it as bad as Harrison, Jackson, Connor, Hunter, ect in the LN as FN trend? I don't think so. I like it, so if the LN/FN thing doesn't bother you then go for it
Second, I'm guessing it's the -ett ending that sounds fem. Names like Violet, Juliet, Scarlett, Janet, Colette ect are usually women's names.
I like it. I think its definitely a boys name.
When I first read the post title I thought it said "Buckett- boy name"
I was like 'ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!'
heh.
Definitely trendy, and to me it's too close to Becky (often nicknamed Beck, Becks) so I could see how that plus the "ett" ending have a feminine vibe, even though I would hate it as a girl's name.
I have a friend who has a little boy named Beckett. She posted something about him on FB yesterday ... and I read her status three times before I remembered Beckett was her son's name; I just assumed it was her puppy at first. So I guess to me for some reason, it sounds like a cute name for a puppy, or a fine last name but not the greatest first name.
