Christmas decorations.

So my 2yo keeps unwrapping any present that gets placed underneath our tree.  Last year I remember she played with the soft Christmas ornaments that were hanging on the bottom of the tree, but this year it's the presents she's destroying.

I know this is a happy problem to have but where will I put all the presents?  It's pretty funny actually - she looks guilty but seems to have no shame.  Ack.  Two-year-olds!

Re: Christmas decorations.

  • This is the first year of E's life that we've put a tree up because I've been afraid of any potential destruction! So far, so good, though. However, I would not put it past her to do exactly what your little one is doing with the wrapped presents.  My plan is to avoid the temptation and keep all of the presents in our closet until they're needed (we have a pretty large closet with high shelves).

  • I'm pretty much planning on not putting any presents around the tree until Christmas Eve.

He likes to touch the tree a lot and after about 4 time outs in a row, he's finally leaving it alone...for now....

  • i'm guessing you have tried telling her they don't belong to her, right?

that was all it took for Maddie.  If that didn't work I'd have them in the guest room, which still has a child-proof door knob protector.
