Parenting after a Loss

When can LO have cheese?

Is it 8 or 9 months?  And yogurt?

I can't remember and we don't see the pedi for almost a month.

Re: When can LO have cheese?

  • I gave DD cheese and she had no problems with it and really liked it at around 8 months.  I thought I read that they can have yogurt starting around 6 months.  I go to the pedi next week I can find out for sure then.  :)

  • Thank you.

Our pedi seems a little cautious about some things, and totally relaxed on others.  She said no yogurt or cheese at 6 months but we could start meats (FWIW we didn't do any solids until 6 months... which is why I thought it was strange that she said meats could be one of her first foods)

  • We didn't do any solids until 6 months also.  Our pedi was just more cautious about peanut butter and honey.  She said we could pretty much give DD what we wanted.  She told me her daughter wouldn't even do baby food and went straight to table food.  I haven't tried yogurt yet.  She has had those yogurt melts and she does fine with those.  I've tried meats like chicken and turkey a couple of times, but she doesn't seem to interested in them yet.  She likes the side dishes. :)

  • I think we are going to try cheese today then.

DD is totally not into purees anymore.  She wants to pick everything up and feed herself so we have been letting her do that.  She has had some of the meat and veggies that we eat for dinner... this week seh has had grilled chicken, pot roast and spaghetti, along with tons of veggies.

I was just trying to think of something for snacks or lunches instead of what we have for dinners, and instead of cheerios.

  • K loves yogurt. We haven't tried cheese yet.

  • I know what you mean.  I think DD could live off those puffs, the baby cereal things that kind of melt in their mouths.  She loves those and mum-mums.

I'm going to try spaghetti with her tonight.  I have a feeling that is going to be kind of messy.  :)
