I posted on baby name board for the Avaley name. Just curious if anyone had heard it as it shows up a bunch in books....but I could not really get more info on it other then it is a combo of Aveline/Avis and of english origin.
Well, DH and I have changed our mind (surprise, surprise) from Avaley (Aye-va-lee) to Avalee (ah-vah-lee). Still Ava (aye-vah) for short.
Many comments about Avalee being too matchy with Adelyn. My thoughts - yes - similar, but they sound different....only similarity being 3 syllables and starting with "ah". At least DH and I are consistant with what we like, lol. It was not quite a hit on that board. oh well. to each their own. We got plenty of comments about Adelyn too.
I know better then to post where I know i will get unsolicited feedback about liking name, rather then the question I asked.
Loving the PAL board - home sweet home!
Re: Names - why oh why so hard?
NEVER post on that board... every time I go there, I just feel like crap! haha! And some of them have picked HORRIBLE names!
I know not many people have the same name taste, so I do what I like, I don't care what others think.
I hear A LOT that Addie and Evie are too close. Big whoop. I am the one that says their names the most, and I like them.
I think Avalee is pretty, but kinda hard to figure out how to pronounce... I thouhgt it was the opposite you posted, the pronounciation you want, I would have thought Avaley...
I like both spellings of Avalee and as for matching I for one think its really odd when siblings have names from opposite ends of the spectrum.
As for the baby names board its best to just stay here, I'm pretty certain they'd dislike any name (even their own child's if it would come up in a post)

FWIW, I feel like the people on that board go there almost with the sole intent of bashing other people's choices. I don't get why people feel the urge to do that - how easy is it to say NMS but to each his own, right?
I didn't dare post there with Cassady Wild. They would have had a field day.
ETA: I like the new spelling, looks cuter and more girly to me:)
If it makes you feel any better I think Cassady Wild is a lovely name
