Any foster moms?

I know that this is the adoption board but I wondered if anyone fostered?  H and I have always said that we would always have one biological child and then foster.  We would like to eventually adopt a 2nd child.

    There are many women here that are foster/adopt - but I'm not sure if you're asking whether there are moms here that are planning to be just foster for a period of time and eventually adopt, or planning to foster/adopt and hope to adopt the first child you get?

    Sorry if I am making this more confusing...just wasnt sure from your post.

    My DH and I are foster/adopt but ours is a unique situation as we are sort-of related to the BM and baby. Our experience has been terrific and foster/adopt is a great program...at least in California.

    We are in California and within the last 30 days finalized our licensed to become concurrent care givers in the foster care program.  That means we are going to foster/adopt, so they place kids with you that they are 90% sure are going to be available for adoption.

    DH and I met our kids last week.  They are siblings aged 2, 4, & 6.  We are currently working on the transition program with the other foster parents, and will hopefully have them full time starting on Halloween...

    we're therapeutic foster parents (which means we're licensed to handle both "basic" children and more tramatized children) in Texas. we are licensed as foster/adopt, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're going to give you children that for "for sure" adoptions. Unfortunately, with CPS nothing is ever written in stone and things change on a daily basis. we are on our 2nd and 3rd placements (a sibling group) and they'll be going to a relative in the next few weeks. we started out with the baby, they had asked for an adoption motivated family, so you can see how things change since they're leaving our house. :(

     

    we've been licensed over a year and have tons of training under our belt. let me know if you have any questions. i've definitely experienced a lot in the last year and half.

    My DH and I are straight foster parents. We recd our license July 31 and have our 4th placement with us. He will be with us at least through the spring. My DH and I decided last night to begin the adoption process (not of our foster son since the goal is reunification) and may begin the foster to adopt process. Please let me know if you have any questions. Its a challenging and rewarding journey!
