I just started working with DD on some signs at meal time. I started with more by doing it before I'd give her another bite. She has started copying me when I do it, but instead of tapping her fingertips together, she claps.
I figure she'll learn the right way eventually. I also take her hands and show her how to do it correctly, but on her own she still claps. Did your LO do that at first and did they later start doing the sign correctly?
Re: how does your LO sign "more"?
My DD is clapping for more too. Although last night she had one hand doing it correctly and the other was flat like she was clapping. So I think it's just a matter of time before both hands are doing it correctly. She also hits her chest when she signs hungry instead of her tummy. lol
I would do what you did, when she would clap for more I would show her my hands doing the sign then put her hands in the correct shape. Either way you know exactly what she wants and that's the most important thing.
Lily claps for "more". She also just stretches her arms out to the side for "all done" instead of rotating her hands.
DS was the same way. He caught on...just keep it up!
DD claps for more, she's been doing that for over a month. Once in a while her left hand will be in the right "sign" and her right hand will be flat. I just keep doing it the right way and helping her. I like that she understands when I ask her if she wants 'more' and if i put her in her high chair with some puffs and go to the kitchen to grab something, she'll clap if she wants more.
He just whines or "NANANA"'s... And I feel like an idiot signing to him when he won't do it back.. lol. But I hear one day they just do it.
He FINALLY waved the other day, but he waves toward himself, not toward the person he's waving to... so maybe soon..
I do More and all done all the time with my LO but he just laughs at me. lol
Maybe one day he'll get it.
