oh god, I almost buttoned his skin

I could not feel more horrible right now.  I was putting on this dumb outfit that has buttons by the neck and as I was buttoning the top button, my little man started to cry and I noticed that there was skin in between the button and I was about to button his skin.  I picked him up and he stopped crying, but I feel that the guilt will never go away, he is already having so much teething painCrying

  • Don't beat yourself up over it.  There are a lot worse things that you could have done to him like....let him fall off the changing table.  Yep, did that.  Talk about feeling terrible.

  • It feels so awful when we hurt them.  One time Logan was up in the middle of the night screaming from gas pains.  I finally got him feeling better and calmed down.  When I went to put him back to bed I smashed his fingers against the sloped wall.  We both cried, but in the end he is ok and he doesn't remember.  Either that or they will pay us back when they're in high school.
  • I was playing with DD last night and banged her head on the ceiling.  I felt terrible (still do), but as other moms on here will tell you, these things happen.  He probably forgot about it within 30 seconds and still loves you more than anyone else in the whole world.

  • Don't feel too guilty! It's hard not to, I know.

We pinched DD's leg in the car seat buckle when she was 2 weeks old. Talk about guilt. I've burned her with the metal on the buckles before, too.

I also managed to smack her head with my nail (I think). I don't even know when I did it -- I just noticed a bloody mark on her head!

And DH turned his back while she was on the changing table and she launched herself off it face first. I'm not sure who was more upset, him or her.

  • I was putting on my DD's paci holder and pinched my poor baby's skin. It was a very small mark, but she cried and I felt so horrible. She barely cried for her shots and I didn't cry as they said mom's would, but when I was the cause of her pain, aaah it was so much worse. But you will feel better eventually and I'm just more careful when I put it on her clothes.
