At what age can I use a moby or other carrier?

My DD is 9 days old and she loves to snuggle. DH goes back to work on Monday and I won't be able to hold her as much. Can I start using the carrier then? I have a baby k'tan.

  • We started as soon as we got home from the hospital.  The moby kangaroo hold was her favorite.

  • I started as soon as my wrap was comfy with my incision.  It was about 2wks.

  • I had DD in the Moby, using the newborn hug hold, when she was 10 days old for sure.  I know we probably used it before that, but 10 days old was Easter and I specifically remember using it.

  • I used the kangaroo hold from birth with both of my girls (both early too - L was 7 wks early).  Just keep her high on you and be sure her face doesn't get smooshed/covered.  I never had any issues though, they always turned their heads to the side and konked out.

  • I would say as soon as you're comfortable with it!  I wore Quinn when he was at least a week old...

  • I used the moby as soon as I got home from the hospital with DD which was easier for me climbing steps and walking around on ice/snow.  I had a the pouch that my pain management system was in and I kept that slung low around my hips and the moby tied above my incision.  We didn't start the Ergo until about 6 months because she was so small that her legs didn't really go to either side until then and I had loaned out my insert without getting it back.
