I think Gizmo ate a bunch of pine needles the day before yesterday because he threw up a couple of times yesterday and there seemed to be a few pine needles in there. Eva keeps licking the tree, but she seems fine. I've tried monitoring them since I'm always in the family room with Elise, but you know you can't keep your eye on them 24/7. Gizmo seems kind of down today - doesn't want to go outside and doesn't want to eat. I don't have anyone to watch Elise today to take him to the vet, but at what point should I take him in? He hasn't thrown up today. He just seems sad =(
Re: NBR: Dogs and Christmas Tree
We ended up putting a gate around the tree this year (for Abraham, but it helps with the dogs as well). Every year our little dog sneaks under the tree to eat pine or drink the water (WITH SOLUTION that we put to maintain the tree!!!) and we've never had a huge problem. I think if you see that he doesn't want to eat tomorrow again and is acting weird again you should try to take him in to the vet, I guess Saturday or whenever you get a chance.
GL!
Thank you! DH ended up calling an animal poison hotline and they told him more or less the same thing. It would have to be a large amount of pine needles for it to be fatal.
Last night, he seemed to get his appetite back and ate his food. So, hopefully, he'll be better today.
LOL.
You have another volunteer babysitter over here too!! And I hope Gizzy is feeling better today. For some reason, Chewy has absolutely no interest in the tree. I think he's scared of it.
