NBR: reality TV trainwreck

Has anyone heard about a show called Bridalplasty?  It is on E!. It is horrifying.  The women are competing to win various plastic surgery procedures in preparation for their weddings.  The winner gets her dream wedding paid for by the show, along with every procedure on her wish list.  Most of these women have over a dozen procedures on their lists.

When a contestant gets cut, the host says "Your wedding will still happen, but it may not be perfect."

Because there aren't enough women in the world with self esteem issues or bridezillas obsessed with having the perfect wedding.

Just to be clear, I realize that if it offends me I should not watch it again.  I definitely will not, I just wondered if I am the only one who finds this particularly distasteful.

DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

  • I saw the ads for that. Unbelievable. I really don't have any words for my feelings on this.

  • Wow. That's a new low.....
  • What a way to boost women's self esteem through plastic surgery. It's sad that people actually watch this garbage which keeps it on air.

  • I saw an ad in a magazine for this show while sitting with my 14 yo at the Dr yesterday.  I was disgusted and now I have to explain to my girls why I don't want them to watch it.  It made me sad that all the girls in the ad wanted to participate because they were all good looking.

One of the girls was a former contestant on Biggest Loser and has lost a bunch of weight.  I understand that she would want plastic surgery to remove the extra skin she undoubtedly has left, but she is a very pretty girl as were most of the others.  There has got to be a better way to get the surgery than this.

  • I heard about it and had the same reaction you did.  Way to prey on self-esteem issues.

  • It reminds me of that tv show "the Swan."  ugh.

That said I am in favor of a little plastic surgery for adults if it makes someone feel better about themsleves but I hate when I see people who obviously look like plastic barbie dolls (see any reality show where the people are based in LA).

The plastic surgeon is the same one that was on The Swan.  I wonder if it is from the same production company, or if the doc just likes to see himself on TV "helping" women.

Now that is really interesting.....I read an article about the show earlier this week and they were saying this was going to be nothing like "The Swan".  I was just sick at the concept and think this is going way overboard.

  • O_o

Whoa!  Where do they find these people?
