I have been researching Doula's for the last couple days and found the average price range to be around $650 to $800. Does anyone know of a Doula that is less than that. Or a Doula in training?

Re: I am looking for a doula...
You actually do get to meet them ahead of time in person and then subsequently through email/phone. The issue is that even w/backups they may not make it in time for your labor! We had this issue. Our main doula was in CA and our backup doula could not be reached by telephone. The supervisor didn't answer our calls either. I texted the doula in CA and she managed to track down the backup doula who finally called us back to say that she was working and couldn't come until after 7pm. (Keep in mind that this was at about 10 or 11 in the monring). So she called Special Beginnings at 7 to ask about coming and I told my mw to tell her not to bother at that point. Well she came anyway! I can't be too upset about that though as she did take some awesome pics and did give me a nice neck massage/rag while I was pushing but I def. wish that I would have hired a doula. (Luckily we had prepared in the Bradley method so my husband was prepared).
