Re: ??? Weekly Check-in ???
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 7.5 months
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Ummm...hmm. How bad is it that I can't think of anything for this?!? Oh I know! We started pureed meat this past week. Just a little amount blended in with the rest of their food. They like it.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Nada
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Dash has started waking up SCREAMING during his afternoon nap. He doesn't do it during the morning, but in the afternoon he'll sleep for about 45 min before he wakes up and starts sobbing inconsolably (and nothing I do makes any difference). He'll do that for about 15 min, and then go back to sleep and finish his nap. It doesn't seem to be related to anything he's eaten, any physical pain, etc.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?
7am - wake up, change and get dressed
7.30/8am - breakfast (bottles and wheat cereal mixed with fruit puree)
8.40am - if it's a day I'm working, we drop them off at a carer's on our way to work
9am - first nap, lasts 1.5-2 hours
11.30am/12pm - lunch (bottles and veggie purees)
1pm - second nap, lasts 1.5-2 hours (but tends to be broken)
4pm - bottles
5.15pm - if it's a day I'm working, pick up from carer's
5.45pm - dinner (veggie purees, a little meat puree)
7pm - bath, book, bottles and bed
Play times involve playmat, book reading, walks (if it's a nice day) etc.
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? Yup, they've been in their nursery since day one. (Well I take that back - our baby monitor wasn't working at first, so they spent 3 nights in our room in their rockers at the foot of the bed.) We weren't interested in co-sleeping, but even if we were, we have a small bedroom and a queen sized bed, so I think co-sleeping would have just been way too hard with twins.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? Someone - Lori? - said a while back to take time to own your emotions. I think that's really REALLY good advice. I won't lie, it was hard going back to work - but taking the time (even if it was only a second or two) to acknowledge my feelings as being valid and simply owning them for that brief moment of time helped me keep things under control every time I got a little pang.
(8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? What are currently your baby's favorite toys? What's one thing that isn't really necessary, but you love anyway (like a wipes warmer)? Do you have a baby blog (link me up!)?
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 22w2d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? My back is starting to hurt all.the.time. Once normal tasks are starting to get me breathless, it's annoying
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? My monthly checkup is on Friday the 1st, I think it's just checking the normal vitals
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Making my back not hurt so much
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? This will be interesting because I'm still on the fence if I want to be a SAHM or go back to work.
(8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? s/o going back to work - How did you decide if you wanted to be a SAHM or go back to work? If it's not something you had to do, but wanted to - how did you make the choice and what influenced your decision?

(1) how old is your LO? 12 months, 3 weeks!
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? he's getting better at walking and clapping and babbling different sounds. He learned "no" apparently, but only uses it correctly on occassion. Not sure if this is a milestone or not, but he vomited for the first time on Monday! lol He also peed on the rug (same night) between me taking off his diaper and putting him in the tub. Good times. He did really well at his picture session yesterday (wanted nothing to do with Santa, so I took him to the picture place in the mall and he did great!).
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? 15 month checkup, and we have to start working on brushing the teeth
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? the insurance company apparently dropped him from coverage, which I found out when I went to fill a Rx for him on Friday, so of course everything was closed for the weekend. UGH. We also have to stop giving him milk before he goes to bed. Last night I gave him water with a smaller nipple, but he wasn't so happy about having to work so hard to get it out, lol, maybe I'll use what he's used to tonight.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch? When I'm home with him, we wake up around 7:30-8, go down and have milk and some breakfast, then play for awhile. Sometimes he will nap 10-12 or so, and then again around 4-5 for an hour or so. I try to do milk and lunch when he wakes up from his first nap, and we've started letting him have a water sippy in the play around (living room) so he can have water whenever he wants. Then I'll do dinner and milk after his second nap and maybe a snack later. I am going to have to start giving him a bottle/milk before the bath now and just let him have water after bath/before bed.
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? This was the plan, however, it did not work out that way, and LO is still in bed with us.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? I went PT for about a week and then FT after. It might have been a little easier for me since I was leaving him with MH instead of at a daycare.
(8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins? I think since we have so many new mommies-to-be that we should freely recycle older qs
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 19w1d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? I'm feeling baby move on a more regular basis. No impressive kicks yet, but if I lie still I can feel something like a goldfish bumping into a plastic bag.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Anatomy scan on Friday!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? I'm starting to get the nesting urge and I have no idea how I want to decorate the nursery.

(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
10 months and 2 weeks old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Personally, I think I am fighting depression or some sort of anxiety. I am looking into getting some counseling, but my insurance doesn't cover it and it's not in our budget right now to pay out-of-pocket. My FSA might cover it but I've got to look into it further. Long story short, the conditions in my work place have led to this horrible feeling of doom. I literally am sick to my stomach when I drive into work and on the verge of tears for half the day at the office. I am on eggshells. Waiting for the other shoe to drop. It's a horrible feeling and I am not handling it well. Sorry to be a downer, but it's what I am trying to deal with right now. The stress is affecting my milk supply so my first priority right now is to do everything I can to keep nursing....lots of oatmeal and fenugreek tea.
As for LO...she's great! She's grown...I bet she's 30 inches now (I need to measure her)...you can really tell in her Picky Sticky from last month to now (and the fact that she now can reach onto the table when she's standing next to it)
This month
Last month
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Nothing until her 1 year appt. with LOTS of shots!
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
Teething/wakefulness...she's cutting more teeth which somehow makes her sleepy by day and wakeful by night. I also think she might be trying to drop her third nap of the day which is making her cranky...so I've still be putting her down around 5:30-6 p.m. but then she wants to stay up until 11 p.m. or later! We're working on it. Part of it may also be adjusting back from the two hour time change when we went to visit J's parents last week.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?
My typical day? Nurse her at 5 a.m., get up and ready for work. In the office at 7 a.m. Home for lunch/nurse her at noon and head back to the office until 3:30 p.m.
She's home with my mom and/or DH and this is their typical day:
8:30/9 a.m. wake/play/read/music
9:30/10 a.m. eat breakfast and 2-3 oz. of EMB
10:30/11:30 a.m. First Nap (anywhere from 60-90 minutes)
11:30/12 Lunch (I come home during the week and nurse her)
Play/read/music/errands
2:30/3 p.m.Second Nap (anywhere from 60-90 minutes; we're trying to stretch it to 2 hours so we can drop the Third Nap)
Play/read/music
4/4:30 p.m. Nurse, play/read/music/errands
5/5:30 p.m. Dinner and then bath
6/6:30 p.m. Third Nap
7/7:30 p.m. Play/read/music
8:30/9 p.m. Nighttime story, nurse and to sleep for the night
She still dreamfeeds overnight (we bedshare) around midnight/1 a.m.
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition?
I thought we'd start now but it's SO cold in our house and I hate the idea of her being in her crib in her own room while it's so cold so I think we're going to wait until next Spring. She'll be about 15-16 months and we'll probably just transition her to a toddler bed, at least for naps and to start off the night. We never though we'd be that family, but we really do like bedsharing/famliy bed.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave?
Give yourself time to adjust and feel your feelings. Also, a practice run in the days prior to your return is key...go through your routine so you'll know what to expect and what you might need to adjust. Also, be sure you've arranged for a place to pump at work, if you'll be doing that, as well figured out your daycare situation and communication with the DCP, etc. It helped me immensely that transitioned back to fulltime over the course of 6 weeks (with a combo of telecommuting as well as working part-time). That may in fact be what killed me professionally-speaking (at least at my current company) but it really helped me and LO personally to transition to my returning to work away from her.
(8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
I am also interested in the SAHM/one-income family decision process and logistics. Also, what are you feeding LO (especially older babies). What's your LO's favorite toys, books, songs, activities, etc. Are you making new friends now that you're a mom? What's your social life like? Basically life-balance questions.
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
TTC/PG Blog | Mommy Blog
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 4 months, 1 week
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Hmmmm....I feel...not great. I'm kind of having a little bit of a rough patch emotionally. I adore H with all my heart, but I miss MH, I miss sleep, I miss cooking/eating better, I miss myself. I know that this is the new "myself," but I'm having quite a few days lately where I'm struggling. I don't know if any of this even makes sense, but I guess maybe I'm just having a little bit of some baby blues, though I thought that'd be gone by now.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? Nothing. He just had his 4-month shots, and won't go in again for 2 more months. I need to go in in a few weeks to check my Mirena (just put in this past week), but that's it.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? Dealing with myself (see above), and also dealing with MH and his lack of involvement. Not total lack.....he does help, but I'm starting to feel like he helps only when it's easy/convenient for him, instead of when I of H needs him to help. I'm getting really frustrated, but when I try to talk to him about it, I'm struggling to not sound completely accusatory (which just makes him put up a wall). Sigh.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?
6am - wake, bottle, get dressed, play a little, mommy gets ready
7am - go to daycare, play
8am - first nap....maybe 30-45 minutes
9am - (just recently started!) eat a little cereal
10am - bottle, then play
11am - second nap....anywhere from 1-2.5 hours, then play
2:30 - bottle
3:30 - third nap....maybe an hour
4:30 - pick up from daycare
5pm -eat a little cereal, then bottle (he gets really hungry in the evenings!)
6pm -play, read books together
7pm - bath, bottle, book and bed
Of course, this is how things go on a good, typical day, which I feel like we have less and less these days. On weekends we sometimes get a bit off, and he naps when we're out shopping a lot (the car makes him sleepy), then the rest of his naps are screwy!
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? Yes and no! At bedtime he goes down in his crib 'til he wakes sometime between 12am-2am. After his bottle then he goes in the ARCS next to me. Sometimes if he's fussy (which happens a lot around 4 or 5 am) I pull him into bed with me and he sleeps in my arms 'til morning.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? First, leave work at work. Next, probably for teachers only....don't be afraid to talk about the baby. I feel like if my students (and co-workers, too) know about him, it's almost like they care about him too. Then they ask about him a lot, and I feel like this whole community of people is acknowledging him and the fact that I miss him all day. It's weird, but it does help me to have others around me seem to care about him, too.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? J is 30" long and 20lb as of last week's appt. He dropped a little on his weight curve but I'm sure it's because he is so much more active. He is still eating lots, he takes 1 of his daycare BM bottles in a sippy or straw cup and eats lots of self feed finger foods.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? nothing. We booked our travel for Jack's b-day, we are taking him to Disneyland. That will be exciting (for us - he won't really know what is going on). Our parents are all coming too.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? nothing really. We had a great holiday. The snow shut my work down for a while and DH worked from home so we basically had a whole at home together.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch? wake him at 6:45 (he dream feeds if that is what you call it at 6:30 or so). He uses his potty then I dress him for daycare (school) And he eats finger foods if interested and then DH takes him to daycare at 7:30.Once there he plays, they sing songs and read. He takes 2 short naps (ack, we all wish he would take longer naps!!) and eats ~every 2 hours (bottles, sippys, finger foods). I pick him up at 5 or earlier. We play and I try to cook until DH gets home at 6 or later and we eat dinner together.J gets ready for bed at 8. He gets a bath or shower as needed or about 3 times a week so that isn't a part of our bedtime routine. Instead he just nurses and then goes to bed in his crib. As of the last few weeks he has been staying in there all night until 5 or 6. He still sometimes wakes at 2 or so but will go back to sleep with some back rubs and the paci.
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? not until 8 mo. At about 6mo we started putting him down in his crib and then he would sleep with us after his 2am feeding. we helped him drop that feeding a month ago and that went hand in hand with him staying in his own room most of the night. (7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? it was easiest for me to just jump right back in. It was more sad in the days leading up to it (would he be confused about where I was since we spent every second together for 12 weeks?!) but once I went back I realized he was just fine. He was at home with MIL or a nanny for 2 months before starting daycare so maybe that helped, but we really like our daycare so I'm sure that wouldn't have been too bad either. My work is flexible but at the same time I really like to present myself in the most professional way possible so I try not to let my home life interfere with work and thankfully my mom can help out from time to time when I need to work late or am out of town. I do wish I worked in the same town J is in daycare at because I'm envious of the women that can visit (and nurse) at lunch. But realistically I probably wouldn't be able to that all that often anyways because I often have lunch meetings or work through lunch to so I can take off early. (8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
TTCers: Which cycle are you on? Where in the cycle are you? What, if anything, are you doing/trying for TTC success?
I'm glad you said this =P because SanHawaii gave me a whole list of the old q's and I was just thinking it'd be such a waste not to use them again! That, and it makes my life easier because then I have a whole spew of q's to choose from
I think this is good advice! Not just for teachers (but maybe not for anyone and everyone while at work... haha). Many of my co-workers like to stop by to see if I have switched out the pictures of Jack I have in my office. At the same time I am always hesitant to bring him up on my own and definitely don't talk about him or my husband/family/home life to certain people just to maintain a professional persona.
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?Good! I'm working a lot less now! And very happy about it. He can now go from crawling to sitting on his own, stand up in his crib (eek, we have to lower the mattress very soon), and is actively turning every page by himself when we're done reading each page when we do his bedtime stories (he used to turn the pages but not so proactively and not every single one purposefully). He also knows that if I'm not home and the garage door opens, then that means I'm home because once he hears it, he bolts straight for the stairs that goes down to the garage...and then he boinks his head into the baby gate =P
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?9 mo I think.
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?I can't think of anything! The best I can come up with is trying to sleep in after our morning nursing while LO is playing on our bed and keeping me awake =P
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?~9am - LO wakes up, nurses, then plays around in our bed/PnP
~11am - napnoonish - nurse, then awake time~2pm - nap~3:30pm - nurses, then awake time, maybe nap
~5/6pm - nurses, then short awake time and nap if he didn't nap after previous nurse/awake time
7pm - we all sit down for dinner, LO get solids 7:45pm - walk up the stairs (LO tries to walk the stairs with help =P lol), get undressed, walk from changing table to bathtub in bathroom (while holding onto my hands), gets bath, then gets dressed and do bedtime story8-8:15pm - nurse~9pm - asleep 4:30am - middle of the night nursing session
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? He does now, until his 4:30am nursing session, which sometimes (rarely) he goes back to his bed afterward if I'm awake, but usually I just fall asleep while nursing and we sleep together until the morning. We made the transition when he was 5.5 months old. We co-slept until 4.5 months old, then he slept in his crib that was sidecar-ed to our bed for another month, then we moved his crib to his own room after we moved out of our 1br apt.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave? I thought it actually helped me personally to start running some errands by myself before I went back to work and get used to going out/being out without the baby. Otherwise, it would've been too much of a shock for me to all of the sudden go from 24/7 baby for 3+ months to a whole day w/o baby.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 3 weeks 2 days old
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? feeling crappy. see below. LO weighed in at 8lb 11oz on Monday at the pedi's office - the guy's going to be a little chunker! he was born 7lb 6oz. he loves to eat.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? friday for me, next friday for him
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? where do i start...i sleep in 1-1.5 hr increments. we're battling thrush. i now have mastitis. i just generally feel like crap. i have barely spent any time with E the last 2 days - i feel so guilty, but i just don't have the energy. i maybe feed him once or twice a day, otherwise, i'm pumping, sleeping, trying to eat, treating E for thrush, changing his diaper, or reading about bf'ing. we're working on bf'ing, but the mastitis has caused my supply to tank. so i'm stressing about that now too. not to mention improvement has been going very slowly. ...i guess the one good thing is that my nipples don't hurt *quite* as badly anymore...
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?
There really is no typical day at this point. he eats/poops/sleeps on 2-3 hour cycles, so we just let him take the lead. i'd love to get him on more of a schedule - he was on a strict 3hr schedule in the nicu, but we haven't been able to keep him on it since we've gotten home, he'll wake up starving before then sometimes, even though he just ate a ton not too long ago.
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? nope, he's been sleeping in the pnp in the living room, and one of us sleeps on the couch. the other tries to sleep in bed.
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO? 25w4d
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? ok
i have more energy to do stuffs. also see above but my tentative delivery date is the week of feb 20.
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? had my 6 mo today and my 1 hr. glucose test. we'll find out more later. i schedule another u/s after the holidays prolly...
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week? not much actually. i'm having a good time. just dealing with MH who is at the end of recovering for his surgery.
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch? he's still inside rolling and twisting away!
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition? we're planning on putting him in the crib 'cause our bed is too small.
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave?
(8) We're almost out of questions again!! =P What questions would you like to see in upcoming check-ins?
hawaii 10.2008 plan ;P married bio ???
(1) What week are you in/how old is your LO?
she's 1 year and 3 wks tomorrow
(2) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
i think i've missed the last few check in's so there is so much to share!!
she is practically running around now... i can't even take my eyes off of her for a second b/c she is so quick. she has learned to actually look where she is walking now so she doesn't trip as much anymore and is able to walk around things quite well
she's started saying soooo many different things now it is beyond cute! she says "night night" now before naps and before bed. sometimes she will say it when she is tired before she even starts to rub her eyes. she says "wa wa" for water when she is thirsty (she still can't say milk and just signs for that). she says "ba ba" for banana. she can say "chicken," "turkey" (learned that one on thanksgiving!) and "beef." one of the cutest things she does now is you can ask her if she wants to eat something or if she wants more of something and she'll nod her head and say "yeah" in response. she will also take bites out of a banana if you put the whole thing near her mouth now so i don't always have to cut it up anymore.
the babysitter gave her a book of animals and you can ask her where the cow, whale, or duck is and she'll turn to the corresponding page and show you. we are working on identifying the other animals but it's still so cool that she can point out those three!
she also knows to turn a book right side up now if you give it to her upside down
if you ask her "what does a puppy say?" she replies "woof woof woof." if you ask her "what does a kitty say?" she replies "me me" for meow LOL. if you ask her "what does a cow say?" she replies "moo moo."
the other day when i was feeding her dinner, she heard the door to the garage open and she immediately said "dada."
she is at a really fun age now b/c she is learning so quickly. plus it is so nice that she is learning to communicate with us more so she can tell us when she is tired, thirsty, etc
she still has some separation anxiety, which makes it really hard to leave for work, but the babysitter reassures me that the minute i am out the door she stops whining/crying
oh and not really a milestone but she had her first taste of sugar during her birthday party!
(3) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
not for a while
(4) What's been your greatest BR challenge this past week?
can't think of anything
(5) What is your typical day like with LO? How long is he/she awake at a stretch?
she usually gets up between 6:30-7:30am. i nurse her, then she sits on the potty and usually poops
then she eats breakfast. this takes about 1 hr and what time is left after that we use for play. i also put her on the potty before each nap.
she normally goes down for her morning nap exactly 2 hrs from when she first wakes up. it will last anywhere from 1-2.5 hrs
she typically wakes up between 11am-noon. i usually put her on the potty first, then nurse her. she has lunch around noon (takes an hour) and then plays. she is usually up for 3 hrs before she is ready for her afternoon nap.
her afternoon nap is usually 2-3 hrs. she'll get up, potty, and then nurse. we'll then play until 6:30pm
dinner is 6:30-7:30pm, sometimes until 7:45
after dinner she'll potty again and often poops again at this time. bath time follows this, esp b/c she always makes a huge mess eating! then i nurse her, read her a bedtime book and then put her down for the night. she is usually in her crib between 8:30-8:45pm and will sleep until morning, with the occasional middle of the night wake up crying for 1-3 minutes and then go back to sleep episode. (she used to go to bed at 7:30 every night but about a month ago she started crying when i put her down for bed and i quickly realized it was b/c she wasn't ready for bed yet so i pushed it back to 8:30 and she's been fine since)
(6) Does/will LO sleep in a separate bedroom? If so, when did/will you make that transition?
she's been sleeping in her crib in the room adjacent to our bedroom since coming home from the hospital. a few months ago we moved from that bedroom to the master bedroom downstairs and i don't think she knows the difference
(7) For working mamas - Any tips for transitioning back to work after maternity leave?
just know that it will be emotional and that it DOES get better! the adult interaction is really nice once you get over the separation anxiety
