Thanks for the encouragement ladies. I saw the LC earlier, and it went well. My son latched well, ate decently from both sides. I got a few tips and he has eaten twice since we came home and so far so good. This LC told me to only pump after he goes to bed for the night and if I feel engorged. I'm nervous because the last time I did this I ended up with mastitis, so we will see.
On the other hand, my LO has colic. He cries alllllll the time. I'm at my wits end. Between that, the BF attempts and being attached to my pump I'm ready to loose it. I feel like I can't tell people what I'm going through in real life. we tried for this baby for a year, I prayed everyday that I would have him, and that he would get here healthy. Now he is here and I feel so overwhelmed, and inept. I'm a NICU nurse, I take care of babies for a living, why can't i care for my own? Ugh. Tomorrow my plan is to stay home in my pjs, BF all day, and hope for the best. Wish me luck ladies.
Re: f/u ready to throw in the towel
Congrats and keep it up! Keep seeking help from the LC, kellymom.com, and your bumpies. It's really important to get support if you want to keep EBF.
My LO also had colic, try Colic Calm (you can google it). It works so well for colic, hiccups, gas, constipation, etc.
IF you are at the end of your rope in a few weeks you can try using Nutramegin by Emfamil for 7 days. 80% of the time this works immediately (I am telling you my son was a totally different baby). I did this per the recommendation of the Dr at the Children's hospital (meanwhile I pumped/froze my milk) and then went back to BF. It's important to still nurse those if you do try this because you don't want your LO to refuse the breast afterwards (which is what happened to me). Good Luck!!!
