So I went for my first weekly doctor's appointment today and found out that I am 2cm dilated. Everything looks good as far as measurments on my belly and she is still head down. The doctor said it's great that I'm dialated and that means that I should have no issue's with opening up as we go further along. My question to him was "does this mean I am going to go early?". His response didn't seem very convincing other then the fact of him saying that "it doesn't mean you will." But he said it very quickly and not convincingly at all. Anyone else dialated yet?? Everyone tells me not to worry that people can stay 2cm dilated and go past their due date, but then others tell me they've been put on bedrest for it so they didn't go. I'm a little worried thinking she may be coming sooner than we're planning for. LOL.

Re: Dr. Appt today .. Already Dilating
Being *dilated* means nothing. I walked around 4cm dilated and 80% effaced starting at 34 weeks with #1.My MW's finally broke my waterat 41+ weeks.
I honestly would not put a lot of worry into it. If you do end up going into real labor, there isn't much you can do about stopping it.
Ditto to PP that it means nothing. It isn't a predictor of how things will progress or stall or when anything else will happen. Unnecessary worry or false hope (depending on how early or late you are) is one reason why some people decline internals.
More Green For Less Green
Exactly. Okay, well - good info to know! I'm going to take it easy regardless just so I can try my hardest to make it to 37 weeks like you mentioned. I've been having quite a few contractions lately, so hopefully that wont interfere too much either!
I've been dialted to 1cm and 50% effaced since 29 weeks and as far as I know nothings changed and I'm 34 weeks and 2 days. I haven't had an internal in a few weeks but I'm still PG so not too much has changed
I would take it easy though...I've been on bedrest with no heavy lifting, walking or sex so that's why nothings changed
I am 50-60% effaced, soft, and 1cm dilated. Two weeks ago I was closed and around 30% effaced (cervical ultrasound was 2.6cm). So, even though I know these things don't always mean anything, I, too, am wondering if I will go early. I was being monitored for a short cervix which is now shortening (effacement) but I'm far enough along that my doctor's aren't concerned. I would like to keep this kid cooking for a while so I plan to try to take it easy for the next few weeks, but, really, I'm a teacher and on my feet all day, so....
Who knows. I guess that's my answer. Hope your baby cooks for a while longer (and mine too!)
