We had a really good trip despite some major changes from the original plans. Long story short, my brother was in the hospital the whole time we were there. I can't say more or why out of respect for his privacy but he's expected to make a full recovery in time.
We spent a lot of time visiting him & the hospital was an hour away from where we were staying so that took up a lot of time that we were hoping to use to sight see. Etc. We'll get back someday and have the vacation we were supposed to have. We were able to see a bit of florence, the leaning tower of Pisa and the town of Lucca so it wasn't a total bust or anything. The things I didn't get to do were mostly photo related. I was supposed to do a photoshoot of my bro & SIL, one of my sister for her 2 year anniversary of her car accident and I was hoping to get a photo of my family for a christmas card but other things took precedence. They're just photos, but they were important to me. Oh well. we'll still have a christmas card, I got a pic of Torey holding up the leaning tower of Pisa with her left arm (the one they thought she'd never move again) and I can do a photoshoot with my bro and SIL to celebrate him getting better.
Quinn was a champ traveler with only a few minor melt downs on the planes from being overtired and uncomfortable (and one MAJOR melt down on the long plane ride home). she adjusted really well to the 7 hour time difference & her visits to my brother were the highlights of his day. I'm so glad she was able to be there with him.
I'm definitely hesitant to do another long haul flight with her before she's 2. And by then we're hoping to have another one & after watching a family with a baby and a toddler, I don't think I'd do it without a 3rd adult to help.
Anyhow, we're glad to be back. My bed has never felt so good! The whole family went to bed at 7:00 and slept really well.
I'm going to go through pictures over the next few days and will share them as soon as we can! Glad to be back!

This line got me. #1, I can't believe it's two years. And #2, she has come such a long way. I remember reading her caring bridge everyday praying for all of you - and I hardly knew you at the time. I am so happy you at least got that photo. That was really important.
Also, glad to hear the rest of your trip went relatively well despite having to be in the hospital everyday - was your brother sick before you left? Was it planned that he was going to be in the hospital? (Not trying to snoop here, just wondering if that's why you went).
And finally, welcome home
