Just Passed out in the Shower (again)

This is the 3rd time this pregnancy. Luckily I was able to sit on the side of the tub before blacking out. I just could not catch my breath. I just ate so I know its not my blood sugar. Im guessing its from all the pressure on my diaphragm? Not sure what to do. Laying down drinking water and shaking. It sucks that dh isnt here :-(

  • Oh No! Not good. Glad you didn't fall, try and take it easy if you can.

  • You should call your OB.  Could be a blood pressure issue.  Also could be a blood sugar issue too.  Even if you just ate, a sudden spike in blood sugar can cause a head rush and pass out.
I give up trying to get a ticker.  I have a DD that is 2.5 years old and is awesome.  Maybe I'll add a quote to distinguish myself.  Hmmm.  How about...

  • This happened to my sister when she was pregnant too.  The doctor told her that it was from the heat and the blood flow being restricted to your brain when you tilt your head back to wash/wet your hair.  He suggested that she move her head slowly in the shower or lean forward to wash her hair.  Hope it doesn't happen again!!
  • Yikes!  I would call your OB just so they know about it!

  • Yikes!!! this is scary!

I would invest in a shower stool right away.  This could be potentially disastrous

  • Call your doc and let him know.  it could be your blood pressure.  Def take it easy.  Can anyone come over to hang out with you?
  • With DS1 I would get this so bad, I had to shower cold with the door open to let cold air in.  Anytime the air got even a little bit warm, I'd feel like I was going to pass out!  Glad you're okay, maybe you should shower sitting down from now on?

  • I would let your OB know, do they know it has happened twice before?  Sometimes I have to shower with the curtain and the bathroom door open to allow for air flow.  If it gets too steamy/hot I also have to sit down.  I have started bringing my cell into the bathroom with me (not like it is any good if I pass out, but it eases my mind if I am home alone).  I also agree with pp about the shower stool.
  • Please call your doctor and let him/her know-- this could be normal, or it could be something really concerning. It's best to be on the safe side!

  • Could be low BP plus the hot water causing it.  I would totally call your OB though...  take it easy hun.
  • This is why I take baths. The heat and standing up just dont work with me but sitting in the tub is just fine.

  • Ugh definitely take it easy. Happens to me all the time. I swear I have the most nonchalant dr. on earth. Everything I have going on is "perfectly normal" (which is fine but really how much more do I have to deal with)

  • That sounds really bad. You might wanna call your doctor and see what he suggest.
