Re: Official Brag on Your Kid Post

  • Cooper has learned to throw a ball, his aim isn't very good but he clearly has the overhand, release at the top, motion down.  Big Smile   I sit on the floor and roll a tennis ball to him, he picks it up and launches it back at me.  Over and over.  It is so cute I want to die. Big Smile

He also can stand up without pulling up on anything, he just stands up in the middle of the room.  He's been doing that for a month now and I didn't think anything of it, but people have been commenting on it lately, I don't know if it's unusual but it sure is cute!!

  • when it comes to meal times dd is obsessed with having her orange plate and her red spoon. on monday night she wanted the orange plate but it was dirty so dh and i were trying to play up a purple one (this usually works).

i said "how about the purple plate?"

dd said "how about..." then walked to the dishwasher, opened it and took out the orange plate and exclaimed "orange plate!". dh and i about died laughing.

the other new thing is "not yet". it came out of nowhere over the weekend. as in "dd would you like some applesauce?" - not yet. "dd let's go take a bath" - not yet.

  • E cracks us up everyday with the things she says.  Evidently they did the bear hunt song/activity at daycare yesterday because we spent last night's dinner listening to her say, "Hey, y'all...we're going on a bear hunt" over and over again.  Potentially annoying, yes, but it was actually pretty cute.  It was too bad she couldn't remember the rest of it.

L is cooing more and more and is just a sweet snuggler.  And - he's now up to seven pounds and 15 ounces!

  • Samantha is one today!  She started taking a few steps 3-4 at a time a little over a week ago... Now she's hot to trot!  She loves to carry random things she finds around the house and gets SO upset if she falls down. lol  She also finds the dishwasher very fascinating and earlier this week, when I hadn't shut it all the way, pulled it open.  I walked in the kitchen to find her standing on the door checking out everything on the top shelf.  Luckily, there were no knives and everything she was only pulling out the non-breakable stuff.

Kaitlyn has started spelling every word she sees and I love it.  We also have very simple addition down and she will repeat them and show you how it works with objects.  "you have two, I take one and you have one left!  2 minus 1 equals 1!"  It amazes me how smart she is!   She throws lots of temper tantrums still these days... sometimes it's hard to remember all the cute! LOL

  • Joshua came with me to the doctor on Monday and he is just so genuinely excited about his baby brother.

Gabriel has decided that pooping in the potty is the way to go and I could not be more excited about that.  He is dry at nap time too.  All we need to do is be dry over night.

  • Grayden learned how to say "excuse me" yesterday. He walked circles around our dogs last night saying "cuse mmm" for about 20 mintues.

He is OBSESSED with helping me in the kitchen and/or standing on a chair and grabbing things off the counter. It's cute when I'm actually doing something he can help with, not so cute when he grabs food, knives or breakable things.

I'm loving all the bragging stories =)

  • C has had a language explosion.  I don't think there is anything she can't say now.  She's even started saying some 2 or 3 word sentences.  Her favorite is "see poop".  (She likes to look at O's poop in the toilet).  I'm just amazed every time she opens her mouth.

O is becoming such a big boy.  He can swim half the width of the pool all by himself.   We let him help us put the breakable ornaments on the tree this year and he was so careful.  He's also super protective of his sister and is the first to come to her defense.

  • My two-year-old is finally having a language explosion! Hooray! I feel like I've been waiting forever to hear him use that sweet voice. We have a ways to go to catch all the way up with his peers (he was assessed at 15 to 16 months expressive speech about a month ago), but he'll get there. Today he added "banana" to his repertoire and even said "Mommy eat banana." I'm so proud.

The baby doesn't do a whole lot yet, but he is awfully cute!

  • Emmy - she secretly goes to "Red Elf" (Elf on the Shelf) and starts whispering to him so he can tell Santa things.  I have no idea what she's saying and when I ask she says "shhh...it's a secret (whisper)".

Ally - SO much character.  She's starting to imitate us a lot.  But man...when big sister screams, it's like a mad house with two kids doing it! She's been taking about 5 steps at a time and then falling and then bouncing right back up to take a few more.  We're hoping for her to fully walk in 2 more weeks when she turns 1.  I'm not digging the crawling stage especially when we're at a public place and she wants to get down.

  • DS is the cutest little thing.  I am constantly hearing new words that he is learning.  It's truly amazing to see them learn!  My heart melts when he leans in for a kiss from me!

ETA:  I just remembered!  He has started singing his ABCs.  Of course, it's all mushed together, but you can tell what it is and if you sing with him and stop, he sings the next part.

Also, we have been amazed that we can count with him.  He started saying "one, two," so we said "three", then he would say "four" and we would alternate counting numbers with him up to 10!!  I can't believe how much he is learning.

  • Love these stories!

Last week Evan cut his 4th tooth and has a 5th coming in, he started to crawl (only about 4 steps), pulled himself up to stand in his crib, waved "hi", and eats yogurt melts, puffs, and wagon wheels like they are going out of style. We can only give him 1 at a time because he will put all of them in his mouth at once. He still refuses all other purees and finger foods, but we are working on it. Oh, and he babbles like crazy. Dada, Baba, and Caaaaa (for car) are his favorites.

He really is at a very fun stage!

  • Tracey has been jumping in her bed for the last 35 minutes and is refusing to nap for the second day in a row. She's now meowing back at the cat who is meowing in her bathroom for water. Isn't that AWESOME!?!?!? Stick out tongue

  • No specific incident but DS is just so much fun (when he isn't throwing a temper tantrum!) He loves buses of any kind, loves saying "ready, set, go" and then he will run or throw a ball etc. He loves to torture our one cat by trying to hug her or pet her.  I recently have become mommy instead of mama.  Lots of fun stuff going on!
  • Gideon is my little man.  So funny.  We heard the song "Santa Baby" today and he said, "Mommy, Santa's not a baby. That boy's being silly" (I think it was the Eartha Kit version...lol).  The other day he also asked where the mommy teeth were.  I didn't get it at first, but then he said something about his baby teeth...oh...lol.

Eden is something else.  She just dropped a piece of Mum-Mum on the rug and is now on all fours, like a dog and using her mouth to try to pick it up Tongue Tied.  And she is standing, a lot.  And over the past few days has taken a step a couple times a day.

  • Love posts like these and hearing everyone's stories!

DS + singing/ dancing with the Christmas decorations = cutest.thing.ever!  The Christmas spirit is in full force at our house and I love it!

  • Well we contacted ECI after a pedi appointment and I told the dr I was concerned he really wasn't speaking.  He knows a lot of words but wasn't forming any sentences or anything.  We had our first initial meeting about 3 weeks ago and won't have the actual evaluation until next week. Of course in those 3 weeks ds as had a huge language explosion.

Today I was eating a salad for lunch and he comes up to me and asks "Bite please?"   I would go to give him a bite and he would turn away and say "No thank you!".   This was a big game to him, guess he was practicing his manners!  lol

Oh and anytime he hears someone sneeze (and sometimes cough) he says "Bless you".  The other day he was in the bathtub and heard dh sneeze in the living room and he yelled out "Bless you Daddy"

  • Today K's teacher gave me a compliment about how well K does her phonics work in class, said she is one of the brightest ones in class!

I am so proud of her improved writing skills and reasoning ability. She makes up little math problems and tells me what letter things start with all the time, just spontaneously.

  • Yesterday, Mia was given a dollar for her birthday from a friend.  She could spend it any way she wanted.  She chose to put it in the Salvation Army bucket in front of Kroger.  She said, "I'm so excited to give away my money so that other people can have food, warm clothes, and a safe place to live!"

And then I died from her cuteness.

Micah is talking so much lately and just so darn cute.  She loves to cuddle me.  I was sick the other day and she was asking me, "Mommy icky?  Mommy okay?"

How did I get such sweet, loving and kind girls?  How blessed am I?

  • Samuel has a new trick - he pretends to blow his nose! He gets a kleenex and holds it to his mouth and nose and makes a nose blowing sound with his mouth, it's so cute.

Eloise has been putting on my dress shoes, grabs my purse, and tells me she's going to work. She then decides if I'm "going to school" or I get to "stay home with Samuel".

Elizabeth loves to play the guitar.  She sings all the time and loves music. I'm so proud of both our girls!

  • Cooper can pick out the horse, fish & cows in his animal books.  I'm very excited that he can do this in different books!  He can say "tractor" and da-da but that's about all I can understand.

I'm so happy that despite the fact that he's been sick for almost 2 months and his ear infection is bad, he's still a pretty happy baby!  And he sleeps.  Oh does he sleep.  I just wish he would eat more.

His birthday party is this weekend and I'm freaking out about the number of people coming, but I'm so excited for it to finally be here.

  • Cohen is a mess. He is standing, a lot and will let go with both hands for a few seconds. The babble and belly laughes have increased, baba, heyyy, abba, mum, to mom! He has learned to give high fives, wave and sign more, all done and of course shake his head no.  Cohen loves food, but after the stomach bug a week ago he's been a little more picky; preferring more finger foods vs. purees then milk over both of those.

It's been fun seeing the explosion! We are working on the top four teeth too.

  • I posted this on FB yesterday but her latest that made me die laughing was we were in a store the night before last and she said, ?Mommy, I am issuing a Proclamation:  Girls only wear dresses!?

Who says you can?t learn from Disney? (I?m sure Proclamation is in a princess story somewhere).

She is also using the expression ?on the hook? and ?off the hook? to mean you?re in trouble or you?re not.  DH says it means you owe a debt so he is trying to deprogram her.  I told him it means you?re responsible for something (=bearing the consequence which could =being in trouble) so it could go either way.

So she says, ?Mommy am I on the hook for that?  Or am I off the hook??  Cracks me up.

  • I love all these stories!!

Rena cracks me up all the time now. She loves the song Single Ladies and dances to it in the car. She puts her hands up in the air everytime that part comes on. :)

She talks to all her dolls now and it's so cute. Just yesterday she was playing with her Tinkerbell doll and it kept falling off the little chair. She said, "Now Tinkerbell, you listen to me and be a good girl and stay on that chair!". And when she fell off again, Rena said Mommy I give up, Tinkerbell is not being a good girl today! :)

They are learning about maps and continents at school and one day she came home and told me that we live on North America and Asia is the biggest continent. IL's have a globe and she pointed out 4 continents correctly! I'm amazed at how much she learns at school!

  • Cameron is into EVERYTHING.  Yesterday's discoveries included tampons, toilet brushes, and plungers.

After weeks of standing at the bottom of the stairs, patting them, he figured out how to climb them Tuesday and is handling them like an old pro. Going down is another story, though.

His high-fives and clapping are killing me.  Especially the clapping.  You can tell there's something he really likes on his tray when he starts clapping while eating!
