WW mamas - ? about new points

I just started WW again and the new points system. I have  ton more points now than I did before. I remember having a really hard time sticking to my points because I only had like 20, now I have 29 and more weekly points. I find it isn't very hard to stick to 29 points in a day and I wonder if it will be effective because it doesn't seem like I am having to change my food intake a whole lot. Anyone else feel like the new system might be too many points? Does anyone know why they switched?

  • You are allowed more points, but the point values for food went up too. It should even out.

  • my points went up from 24 to 36 points. but the points values of foods are now different. like a bowl of MG cheerios went from 2 to 3 points. so although you have more points, a lof of point values  have gone up as well.

  • I haven't changed what I'm eating and I'm not hitting my points every day. I think if you already eat a whole foods diet, you won't see much change.
  • I guess this makes sense, but I don't understand why they would change it so fruit has no points. Fruit has calories and while it is a better choice than some other snacks, it still contributes to your overall calorie total for the day. I think the new points make it more friendly for severely overweight people who need to completely redefine how they look at food, but for people who want to lose 5-15 pounds it is going to be hard to lose on that much food.
  • Normally I'm a calorie counter, but switched to WW post-baby because I didn't have time for all the meal planning that goes into calorie counting for me.  I eat extremely clean and keep track of things like grams of protein when I calorie count, so meal planning and tracking can be very time consuming.  Anyways, when I calorie count I can eat 1700 calories or so and lose weight at about the same rate as I was losing on 19 WW points, which is more like 1000 calories.  Way more food, but the type of food is also completely different.  I'm hoping that the aim of the new program is to get people to eat more calories of healthier food rather than 1000 calories of pre-packaged foods.  We'll see.  I don't totally understand the new program yet.
