Parenting after a Loss

I know all men do it but... (opinions needed)

DH got me a lsptop for my birthday. I found porn on it once and asked him to please not use my personal gift for that. He did it again!!!  He can look at porn all he wants but it pisses me off that he uses my gift to do it when I've specifically asked him not to.

Am I being ridiculous?

  • No..I think it's a reasonable request!  If you have to...put a password lock on your computer.  That way he can't get onto it!

Exactly this!!  DH used to watch porn when we first started dating but I told him it really bothered me and he stopped doing it.  I would be incredibly hurt if I found out he was still watching it on the sly, especially since I specifically asked him not to.  It's the same thing here - you asked him not to put porn on your computer and he did it anyway.  It's disrespectful.

That's what I told him. And FWIW, I'm not a fan but I just accept he is going to do it every now and then.

  • I don't think it's unreasonable, especially since porn sites are notorious for viruses and such.

I welcome porn in my household, gives my vag a nice break.

  • MH is into porn as well and it doesn't bother me, but he is to keep it limited to his laptop. If he's going to do that he needs to be respectful of your wishes.

  • Nope, I wouldn't want that crap on my computer either. DH isn't even allowed to download stuff on my computer.

  • Nope. DH would be in big trouble if he looked at porn. t is a no no in our house.

Also, I think that if the request is reasonable spouses should oblige each other on things like that. For example, our bathrooms are carpeted and I don't want pee on the carpets (we are planning to tile when we have the time and money) so I ask DH to sit when peeing. He obliges my request because he knows that it is important to me. So, if your DH knows it is important to you he should definitely listen!

  • Porn is def not tolerated, nor is DH even interested. Its unacceptable he cant atleast oblige your request if its your computer.

  • I haven't read the other responses, but the exact same thing happened to me.  I knew when we married that DH looked at porn, and I told him I didn't like it.  Now that we have kids I think it's even more important that he stay away - what if they accidentally stumble upon it?  I caught him doing it again when he typed something porn-y into the Google searchbox in Firefox, and then didn't delete it.  So when I opened the window, there it was.  He was apologetic, but I was mad.

I am realistic - I know that he does it.  I figure that my asking him to stop will make him do it less and be a bit more careful about it - both are good things in my book.

  • Oddly enough, my husband's not into porn.  I don't know why; it always struck me as unusual.

Anyway, years ago I was living with my brother, who used to use my laptop ALL THE TIME for porn and kept getting viruses.  I changed my background image to this and he got the message.  =)
