Pregnant after IF

Someone please talk me off a ledge...

So, we just got back from our OB appointment.  My CL went from 3.5 to 3.1 in 2 weeks, even though the Dr. said anything over 3.0 is OK, I'm conerned that it shortened so quickly.  Baby B still won't show his face.  They're sending me to Duke this week to see a specialist over there.  They were closed by the time the Dr. was done with me, so his office is going to call Duke tomorrow to get me in.  They're hoping to get me in this week.

So, now I'm a mess. DH and I went for dinner and i cried almost the entire time...I did stop to stuff my face though.

On a good note, Baby A is 1 pound and Baby B is 1 pound 2 oz.  Baby A is in the 84% but they don't know about baby B since they can't see anything.  They said there is a 12% difference between A and B and they like anything below 20%.

We were going to order furniture tomorrow but now I'm a mess again and I want to wait.  I just wish I could be happy and naive about everything.

  • (((hugs)))

I have no advice and I don't know what half those numbers mean.  But I am sorry that you are stressed out and that things aren't going easier.  Hopefully seeing the Dr. at Duke will give you the good news you need.

  • Try to listen to your doctor. If he's not too concerned about the shortening, try not to worry about it too much yourself. (I know that's easier said than done.)

    Hang in there!

  • I've had a cervix under 2.5 for many, many weeks now.  Last appt was 2 weeks ago at 1.6 cm.  I've been on restricted activity and all my FFN's have been negative.  What I'm trying to say is that a shortening cervix isscary but you can go for a long time with one.

I hope the visit with the Duke doctor helps and you get to see all of Baby B. All of this is scary, try and relax a little.  Upset mommy isn't good for the babies (as my DH reminds me all the time)

  • I don't know what those numbers mean either, but I hope everything is okay. I'm glad you are getting to see a doctor soon and get some more answers. ((hugs))

  • My CL has varied from week to week.  It has always been above 3.0, so the dr has always been happy.  Last week it was 3.8.  Yesterday it was 4.4.  It has been as low as 3.4.  I don't know if it as actually gotten longer, or if the u/s tech has just measured it differently from week to week, but my measurements have varied a lot!

As long as your dr is fine, I wouldn't worry.  Good luck at your appt at Duke!

  • 3.1 at 21w with twins sounds pretty reasonable to me but I understand why you are upset about the lack of clarity with baby b. I hope you get into see the other doc and some answers very soon. Hugs.

  • Which part is freaking you more?  The CL or not knowing what's up with baby B?

I get the CL part.  Though watching all the variety here is making me think it's not an exact science at ALL.  Like a Winter Snow warning in Colorado: 2 inches could mean 2 feet, and 2 feet could mean 2 inches.  (Bad analogy. I'm tired.)

Not being able to get good measurements on baby B wouldn't worry me AT ALL.  They're just wiggly little sneaky buggers :)

Hang in there.  You're doing good!

Repeat my new mantra with me: think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive think positive

I'm worried about the CL more then anything.  I'm pretty sure baby B has a face, he just doesn't want to show it!   He must be the shy one of the two.  I'm trying to relax and think positive...it's hard.

  • why are you going to see a specialist for a cervix that's 3.1cm? I'm confused?

    Your cervix is fine.

Anything above 2.0 is fine really, above 3.0 is excellent! Most are just 3-4cm to begin with.

As for your baby's face, my daughter has been hiding her face since week 15. It was never an issue for us!

I don't know.  First the Dr. said he wanted to send me to try to get a better view at Baby B and then he said my CL length is starting to concern him so he wants them to check that out too.  DH is pretty optimistic, but I'm a big worrier, so obviously I always go to worse case scenarios!
