I need to find a cute dress for DH's company Christmas party. Its a semi-formal affair, somewhere between Sunday clothes and cocktail dress but leaning toward the dressy side. I'm have a small bump that I suspect will be bigger in a couple weeks for the party. Any ideas?
ETA: I'd also like to avoid spending a fortune on a dress I'll likely wear only a few times.
Re: anyone want to help me shop?
I'd get a solid, dark colored cotton dress with short sleeves or sleeveless and wear a cardigan and dress it up with a belt and/or jewelry and some fancy shoes. That way you can wear the dress through the cold weather and into the spring! In the 3rd trimester, you can throw on some leggings and flip-flops or flats, put your hair in a pony tail and your good to go!
I found a black 3/4 sleeve v-neck dress for a baptism a couple of weeks ago that I wish was short sleeved. For the baptism I dressed it down with a cardigan, patterned tights and flat boots. It was the most comfortable thing! I plan to put on some fun sparkley jewelry for the holidays.
Here is a cute navy dress from Motherhood Maternity. Navy is even good for Easter season with a white or yellow sweater. Affordable too! https://www.motherhood.com/Product.asp?Product_Id=92133Z20022&MasterCategory_Id=MC3
I'm telling you-- its all about the accessories at this point!
Not really sure what you're style is.. Or what you consider a fortune.. but here are a couple I found.

There's a bunch of cute ones at Nordstroms, but they're all more expensive than these are.

I love the first two! Thanks-I'm horrible at internet shopping and that seems to be the best option with maternity clothes. I did see the ones at Nordstroms too but they are a little more than I'd like to spend. My grad student lifestyle doesn't have many dress up occasions.

I love that first one, I'm actually staring at it, debating buying it. It' would be so cute with a thin belt under the bust to dress it up. If I buy it, I have to make sure I have somewhere to wear it to!

That's the one I'm leaning toward too! I think with the right shoes and jewelry it would be easy to dress and or down. Do you have holiday parties or Christmas Eve church services coming up? Or you could do what a PP suggested and get it now to wear to a shower in the spring. (::peer pressure peer pressure::)

I think I could easily become addicted to this site too! So many cute clothes and they do have a maternity section! (Though you are right, anything with an empire waist works fine for now too)

That's awesome! Now he needs to take you to a special dinner or something so you can wear it!

I think this dress is cute
Ooooo I like that one too!
Thanks ladies, you've given me lots of great options-now all I have to do is narrow them down!
