"I love that our tree is a little 'bottom-heavy' this year! A. put the last ornament on and said "dat's perfect, Mommy,'" and now he keeps looking around the house saying, "look at our Christmas house, Daddy" and "look at our Christmas house Mommy." Pure joy!"
Instead of thinking "Awww how sweet", I was jealous. Why? because A is the same age as Nicholas- they are 8 days apart and he is just so much more advanced than Nicholas. I have been doing better at not comparing N to A (like me feeling bad that A pretty much started talking in complete sentences when he was like 10 months old), but seeing this status did make me a little jealous.
Okay no more comparing (for now). Nicholas is Nicholas and A is A.
and Nicholas is doing awesome in his EI sessions. I am very pleased with that. I just can't wait to have an actual conversation with him.
Re: So this was a friend's status on FB- that I kind of rolled my eyes at
It's so hard not to be jealous and compare about things like that!
So glad Nicholas is doing well with his EI!!!
Try not to worry about it! My 27 month old doesn't even speak like that. He said "me like happy tee mama". I'm guessing he meant he liked the Christmas tree.
Grayson doesn't talk at all (17.5mo)... Gibby just say a couple things... Griffin barely talked until a few weeks after he turned 2.... I know the feelings - but also know that it all happens in time.
It's hard to hear kids the same age talking so much (my good friend's daughter born just a month before my twins is a big talker)... just know in a year or so you'll laugh that you ever worried about it- they catch up... esp if he's in EI - he'll get there for sure!!
I'm trying to enjoy the twins still being "babies", b/c once they really start talking, they don't feel like babies anymore to me- then they are really "toddlers" and "kids".... so i'm gonna enjoy my babies for the next few months that I have them and try not to worry about the talking (too much!)
This was my first thought.
And, this was my status update on Facebook a couple days ago:
James (points at Christmas tree we just put up): "Di Do Di Boo Mooooo!" Me: "YEAH!" Matt: "What did he just say?" Me: "I have no idea, but he's excited."
LOL!!! Yeah that is my 1st thought too. Like "Gimme a Break!". But he does talk in complete sentences (with prepositions and everything)- I've seen it.
Whenever I feel down about it and mention it to my sister, she tells me that A is a little abnormal (like what 20 month old talks like that?!). I don't expect Nicholas to talk like that for another year- when he's almost 3 or even 4.
IUI- BFN IVF #1 -BFP! Allie is our 2nd IVF baby. Born at 36 1/2 weeks after pre-e again
It's really hard not to compare... my friend's little girl is 4 days older than DD and she has a huge vocabulary (clear, 2-3 words together, nouns, verbs, adjectives... it's crazy!) DD will repeat many words but they are far from clear. I know she's fine (I'm a speech therapist for goodness sake!) but it doesn't stop me from comparing and wishing DD's language skills were further ahead.
Try as hard as you can not to compare though.... Nicholas is fine, and your friends LO is not the norm
I call bullchit. Our kids are born on the same day - that means that A is 8 days from Jacob too. There is nothing like that coming out of Jacob's mouth. He's getting better and better, but that is just bullchit.
PS - I have a girl in my mom's group who always talks about things that her daughter says - like full sentences. I've been with this kid a ton of times in our playgroup and I've never heard a sentence come out of her mouth.
The moral: Sometimes moms exaggerate.
Karly talks so much better than Katie. Katie communicates but not the way Karly can and I feel awful comparing my children. Katies EI eval is next Wednesday.
Some kids just learn to talk faster. You DS is perfect just the way he is
LOL!! This sounds just like a day at my house. DS talks in complete sentences...but they are totally incomprehensible to any of us
Even most of his words are not comprehensible to anyone but me - for example, "cah cah" = police car, "din-din" = police man. I hope a police man/woman never hears him say these words...they don't sound very politically correct!
In short, I don't believe that status update either
he really said "look!" and "dada!"
she's making that up! is he working on his penmanship now for his letter to santa?
good grief...
2 infertiles' journey to 2 pink lines (and a baby girl)
"our IF story"
LOL! He's probably writing his thesis on the meaning of Christmas now.
