I have vented on the Board before about my post-m/c weight gain. Today I realized I need to do something about it.
We all know the 12 step routine, right?
Hi. My name is Sandy and I am an emotional eater with a profound dislike of meaningful exercise.
::Group says - "Hi, Sandy"::
My story - I went from losing 25 pounds to get to WW Goal weight in 2009 and run/walking just a 5k a few months before my BFP (after a looong training period, granted) to where I am now -- back up to what I weighed before WW, not having gone to the gym in ages, clothes not fitting, feeling flabby and unattractive - which makes TTCAL much less fun - and with a belly that looks like I could be about 12 weeks pg...but I'm not. Food has been sort of a crutch for me during this time, and the lack of exercise has probably been even more of an issue. Co-workers are starting to notice the shiny new pooch I've got going on, and one asked if "I had anything to tell him" when I wore a fitted tee under a suit jacket yesterday. Um...no, assho!e, I don't.
I have kept up my WW on-line subscription without logging on all this time. Yes, a waste of $$. But yesterday, WW launched its new program. And tomorrow is the start of a new month. And I need to work on a new me. So I am recommitting myself starting tomorrow. I have got to do something.
Anyone interested in committing to a healthier December, whether it be through WW or just mindful eating and avoiding tasty holiday temptation? If so, let's buddy up for some mutual support.
(And no need to point out the incongruity between this desire to recommit and my desire for a holiday cookie/recipe swap last week! December is probably a bad month to start this!).

Re: Committing to a Change - New Month, New WW Plan - Anyone In?
Hi Sandy!!
I'm ready to do it!! I did so good last month with working out but the eating part was not so great. So I only lost 2 lbs. I'm not going to do the WW program so to speak, but I do eat the Smart Ones meals they have and the desserts.
Tomorrow sounds like a great day to start!

I'm in!!!
I did WW before our wedding back in 2008 and lost over 40lbs, which I slowly gained back starting on our all-inclusive honeymoon. Needless to say the m/c didn't help matters, as I am a die hard emotional eater. I've never been heavier or felt more disgusting in my entire life sigh.
I'm ready to make a change!

What is the new program like???
I've only ever done the points system, never even tried the flex or core program (whatever they're called).
I'm a horrible emotional eater! I gained 10 lbs. while I was pg and an additional 5 from the emotional eating afterwards... and I was already about 10 lbs. heavier than I wanted to be. I committed to eating healthy on Monday after a brownie binge on Sunday.
I'm not doing WW- I've decided to go vegan. Though I would like to lose weight, I'm also going for overall health. A plant-based diet is very healthy and keeps you away from fast foods, dips, candies, desserts... all the things you would generally pig out on during the holidays. Of course you can always make vegan versions of everything!
I need to focus on being more mindful of what I'm eating and my actual level of hunger. When I get upset the first thing I want to do is go out to dinner or order a pizza. I need to find a new way to deal with my emotions!
I'm with you ladies! Let's do this! We're on our way to being MILFs for sure!

I went vegan for 6 weeks, thought I would loose lots of weight just giving up cheese but I actually only lost a couple lbs but I did feel better and healthier.

Whee! So glad I am not alone. Doing WW does not matter, so long as we commit to trying to "make a change for the better" in December.
I can do a weekly post, perhaps starting tomorrow 12/1, and continuing on Monday of each week to "check in" and give each other encouragement (and some guff if we don't stay compliant).
It would help to have a consistent title for the post every week so we can find it easily...any bright ideas, oh creative ones?
ETA: Would a badge be out of order here? Not that I know how to make one, of course!

I have done both, and honestly the live/in-person meetings are what really worked for me. I tried the online version, I really did. But there was no one holding me accountable and so I let a lot of things slide, including my overall success in the program. I'm hoping that maybe working with you ladies and having you all hold me accountable will help this time around.
I'm in! I don't do WW but I have been doing the Primal diet (DH sucked me in and it sure works!) aside from cheating on and around Thanksgiving by eating pie (okay pies).
I was my heaviest right when we started TTC, I didn't gain any while pregnant or after. With this diet, I've lost around 15 lbs from that. I'd like to drop at least another 5-10, or at least maintain this weight loss through the holidays, which will be hard.

I need help with the title -- we can use it for the weekly posts as well as the badge.

I'm in. I was just thinking today that I should revive Kathymarie's weight loss buddies post. We did that for a while a few months ago.
I just need to eat healthier again and consistently exercise. I ate the perfect balanced diet while pg and just let it go to *** after the m/c. Luckily I'm only up 5 lbs from a year ago, but it could be a lot more if I don't channge my ways.
Yeah, Shanna!
I took a quick look around the website today and your description is right on. I think the new plan will eliminate the benefit to eating "cheater" foods with low nutritional value (including those I relied on and love - like VitaTops). Points are now calculated using more data -- fat, carbs, protein and fiber (I think I got that right). Its going to be a change from my WW "routine" last time around. VitaTops, for example, tripled in Point values under the new system. It'll take some getting used to. I just went on and ordered a new Points calculator so I can get used to it.
I think the post will be "healthy choices" specific and not WW specific, so everyone can join in!
ETA: You also get more Points per day and a larger "weekly" bank than before.

is everyone on FB? what about a FB group- private to all except those in the group- i have one with my TTCAL buddies and its fun- a lot easier to keep up on things then having to sift through all days material on here- and you can share recipes etc, encourage people etc...if you're interested let me know and i can make it- youd just have to email me your email addresses so i can add you to the group----
Okay - let's go with
Healthy TTCAL Hotties
I will do the post tomorrow, 12/1, with this title, to kick us off, and then post every Monday morning as a check-in. Can I get a volunteer to help post a link to the morning post on Monday evenings? (or can someone teach me how to do that since I have no clue how?).
No need to share your weight (I tried WW meetings years ago and could not bear to get on the scale in front of other people) but you can report your loss (or gain) if you want to - and given that we are all striving to be healthy TTCAL mommas some day and not supermodels, let's focus on a variety of healthy changes as those go far beyond the number on the scale. Everyone may have different ideas about what that means for them.
My touchpoints, by way of example only, include drinking more water, less caffeine and artificial sweetners, increasing veggies and fruit, getting meaningful exercise 3 times per week in whatever form I can and trying to get more sleep.
My goal is to fit back in my clothes and not feel self-conscious. (Hopefully I will get back into my clothes just in time to no longer fit in them for all the right TTCAL reasons!)
Looking forward to having a group of TTCAL friends on this adventure!

I am probably one of the last people in the universe not on FB...but I know most other people are -- so there's no reason not to form that group, as well. I can still do the weekly post for those who don't mind it this way or who are social networking phobic old ladies like myself.
