bath every night?

I know i have heard this before but i gotta see what you ladies do.

Both LOs have pretty dry skin and DS has excema.  I typically give them a bath everynight bc of food and play grime.  Im thinking now that winter is upon us i should do it at least every other day?  WDYT?

Re: bath every night?

  • My daughter has a bath every night and has a problem with eczema as well. Do you put lotion on him? I find that she stays eczema fee as long as I use mild lotion. If a patch starts up I make sure to keep it lathered with Aquaphor.

  • We only do a bath about every 2-3 days just because by the time we have dinner, bath and pjs it would be past her bedtime so she would have to go straight to bed. We want her to be able to play before bed.
  • I am starting to move to every other night, unless she is really filthy (aka cream cheese or spaghetti sauce in her hair)

  • We have never given a bath every day. DS has terrible exzema and skin issues so we have been told to give a bath once every 2-3 days. We do give him a good wipe-down with wipes every night, and sometimes I fill a bathroom sink and plop just his butt  in there so that I can wash his abdomen and mid-section, but otherwise we just do a bath every couple of days and he's fine. He's not the smelly kid either. lol
  • We give a bath every night just to stay on a routine. He loves his bath time.

  • We've always done every other night, but DS also has bad dry skin and I'm thinking of switching to every 3 days if he's not super dirty now that it's so cold.
  • lula doesn't have dry skin, but she gets a bath every other night.

  • DD doesn't have dry skin, but we've always done baths every second day on average (usually about 3 baths per week). It could help the dryness to spread it out a bit.
  • We do a bath every night but saturday (we're usually out with him later than usual, and he has swim sunday morning so it seems silly to bother).

Eczema is hard though- depends on how bad it is.  MH has it and for him, the only way to keep it under control IS to bathe 1-2x a day.

  • We have always done everynight. Now that winter is here I might do it every other, unless LO has a dirty day.

  • DS has mild excema too. I have cut back to about every other day with him since the weather has gotten colder. I usually just wash hands and face on the in between days. I also use a mild lotion every night bath or not and aveeno hydrocortizone on any patches of irritated skin. (All pedi recommended). Good Luck!

  • My DS (13 mo) has eczema and we do bathe him every night.  The key is that the bath should not be too long.  Also, Cerave cream is a miracle worker.  I always slather him in that after the bath. This was what the pediatric derm recommended.

  • We have been doing a bath everyday went to the allergist today and she told me eczema was a disease of the clean that if he ran around in the barn he might not have eczema. lol I thought that was funny!
  • We definitely bathe every day. He's gross by the end of the day with food ick and play goo.  He also has eczema but we use a light layer of hydrocortisone cream on his spots and it seems to keep it pretty tame.

  • Every other night unless he gets really dirty.  Not being outside everyday he isn't getting as dirty as summertime.

  • We give K a bath every night. She loves to rub her meals in her hair. Its a part of her routine and she loves it! We also use lotion every night so we have never had an issue with dry skin.

  • DS doesn't have any skin issues, so he gets a bath every day as part of his bedtime routine. It's also his special time with DH, since they take the bath together, and its a lot of fun for them.
