acne help?!

Has anyone found a safe, effective treatment against this awful pregnancy acne?  I know it's hormonal... but isn't there SOMETHING I can do to help???

Re: acne help?!

  • I'd love to know, too!

  • I'm getting a facial today at a maternity spa... I will let you know if that helps! This is horrible!!!!

  • I had BAD acne problems my whole life which I've finally gotten under control the past couple years with the use of a Benzoyl Peroxide regimen...but guess what?  No BP during pregnancy!!  My poor skin has been looking like it did in high school for the past couple of months, that is until the past week.

I was doing some research and have discovered the glorious skin clearing benefits of something you probably have in your kitchen....olive oil.  Yup, oil.  It's the weirdest thing.  I've also started using Kiss My Face's Pure Olive Oil Soap in the a.m. and p.m., followed up with Origin's Balanced Diet moisturizer in the a.m. and massing a dime-sized amount of olive oil all over my face before bed.  I'm amazed at how much acne either goes down or goes away completely by the morning.  Seriously though, if it can help my acne, it can help anyone's!  Good luck!

Seriousy?!  How weird and counter-intuitive!  Hmmm, may have to consider that.

  • Woah!  I would think that would make it worse!  Who knew?!
Thanks for the tip...  Where do you find that soap?

Yeah I was extremely skeptical myself before I tried it, especially as I was rubbing it all over my face.  I kept saying to myself "OMG You are so going to wake up looking like Mt Vesuvius erupted all over you face", but I could help to smile when I woke up and all the redness had gone way, way down...it even helps my make up to last longer throughout the day!

I got mine at Shop Rite for $2.99, but you can get it at Whole Foods if you have one near you, or Kroeger and Bi-Lo might carry it as well.  If all else fails, I would check online, though I'd hate for you to have to pay for shipping!

  • Try tea tree oil. Get the pure stuff and dab it on your zits with a q-tip.

  • My pregnancy acne has been horrible, but I found a bit of help with the Clinique products. I use the face wash, clarifying lotion and moisturizer.

I think I might go out and try to find the olive oil products that some of you are recommending... :-)

Be really careful with the Clinique clarifying products because they contain salicylic acid which is another big pregnancy no-no....I've basically had to trash all of my face care products that worked so well! Crying

  • My dermatologist gave me a prescription for topical antibiotic.. its erythromycin and its working wonders.. I've always struggled with acne and pregnancy only made it worse, this is the clearest my skin has ever been!
  • Idk if you've tried it, but I asked my doctor about acne products with salicilyc (sp?) acid, and he said that they are safe.  So maybe a spot treatment or an astringent would help?
