Uno card game -- for a 3 & 5 year old?

It's been year's since I've played Uno so I can't remember the exact rules.  Is it too hard of a game for a 3 & 5 year old to play?  The box says it's for ages 7+, but both my kids know their colors and numbers.

Re: Uno card game -- for a 3 & 5 year old?

  • My 4 y/o's been playing Uno for quite a while. The hardest part for her is holding the cards. Definitely age appropriate for a 3 and 5 y/o though!
  • Loading the player...
  • I think they'd catch on, especially the 5 year old.  You'd probably have to do a lot of reminders for a while ("remember, you can put down a yellow card or a 3"), but I think they could get it.

  • We have it and my 3.5 yr old can play. She does spread out all of her cards instead of holding them, though.

We also have the game Uno Moo.

For both games, I removed the wild cards because she doesn't get that concept yet.

  • My 4 yo plays all the time. My just-turning 3 yo  is not nearly ready.

  • They have preschool Uno sets, like "My first Uno."  DD has been playing since 3.
