If you've been following my earlier posts, you know my doctors have been trying to get my platelet count up before I deliver (I have a chronic autoimmune disorder called ITP that makes my body destroy platelets for no reason) since you need a platelet count of at least 80 and preferably 100 to get an epidural or spinal anesthesia, depending on the comfort level of the anesthesiologist on call. Well, over the weekend I had a two day IV infusion of immunoglobulin (some kind of blood product) and today my platelet count was up to 195 from 54 last week. Normal is 150-400 and I haven't had a normal platelet count since I was diagnosed with ITP in 2008! I am so happy that the treatment worked!
BUT - there is no way to know how long my platelet count will stay up for. It could stay up for a month, or it could stay up for a week. There's just no way to know. So we are inducing Thursday before my platelet count has a chance to drop again. I can't believe I'll be meeting my little guy so soon!
Of course, I'd rather go into labor on my own before then, so any labor dust you want to send my way would be appreciated!

Re: So it looks like I'll be getting induced on Thursday
Thursday is the day!
Good luck and lots of labor dust to you before then.

LOL. Seems to be! Although I think my induction won't be started until Thursday evening so LO will probably not arrive until Friday. Hopefully it doesn't take until Saturday. I have one friend who had a 3 day induction. Her induction was started Friday afternoon and her daughter wasn't born until late Sunday afternoon. I am hoping to NOT have a similar experience!

Hey, who says you can't bump during labor? Although the internet connection at my hospital is really crappy. I'll still try to post updates though!
And we'll all be posting our baby photos, too!
