Well, my daughter is not quite 12 months, but she will be on December 19th so I thought this board would be more appropriate to post on.
My daughter pulled herself standing early and has been cruising the furniture since about 9 months. The girl can move, and FAST. However, she has no desire to stand on her own or walk by herself. Wait, allow me to rephrase; she hasn't even taken steps without holding on. She walks with her push toy and does well with that though. I've read several things...this is normal or that she should have hit this milestone by now etc. etc. She's a stubborn girl; she refused to crawl until she could simply bolt. There was no army crawling, no go a bit and stop...she just went. Is it likely that she will do the same for walking? Should I bring this up at her 12 month appointment? All her other developmental milestones are right on track...
I suppose I'm looking to see if this is normal, if anyone else has similar experiences...she's an only child so she has no siblings (or cousins even) to model after. She does go to Day Care when I work and several of those babies are walking, but she just doesn't want to unless she can hold on. I'm not really sure if this is cause for concern or just let it go, knowing that she'll do it in her own time. My husband and I do encourage her but she just seems to be content with crawling and cruising our furniture.
Re: 12 Months Old, Walking/Standing Up Question...
maybe try taking the walking toy away for a few days? that might encourage her to step out of her comfort zone and try a few steps on her own

Wow, according to your ticker, you are REALLY pregnant!
Your daughter is perfectly normal. My son is doing the same thing... he is over 13 months and not walking. While I wish he was, I am not concerned about his developmental progress.
It sounds like she is right on track to me. I kind of thought DS would be walking before 12 mo because he was cruising around so much. He didn't really start taking unassisted steps/walking until around 12 1/2 mo or so.
My niece did not start walking until she was almost 2. Like they say, every baby is different!
My son was walking only while holding onto things (couch, coffee table, walking toys) until just after his first birthday. One day I just looked over and he walked across the room unassisted.
I wouldn't worry!

Haha, I know! I have to change that ticker!
Glad to know that other people's children do the same thing. One of the workers at the day care my daughter attends made a comment about this today, which is enough to get me paranoid. As a first time mom...I believe I have that right.
I'm glad to have some responses. That assures me a bit. She just started getting comfortable using the push toy, but does well with it, so I'm not going to take it away just yet. I'm just glad she's branching from the furniture since she practically runs from side to side of our couch!
She'll walk when she's ready. My LO walked at 11m. Girls usually develop motor skills slower than boys but develop verbal skills sooner.
She's not behind at all.
