movement has subsided

Hey Ladies,

Anyone else get nervous or have noticed a vast change in the amount of movement from your LO?  It seems like last week I was feeling him move all the time, and now for the last couple of days if I feel him it's very little or even makes me wonder if it was him or just gas.

TIA

Re: movement has subsided

  • I wouldn't worry too much.  The movement won't be consistent for a few weeks still.  The baby might have just shifted position or is moving when you are.  :)

  • Yes! I have had this happen exactly... I am barely feeling anything where as last week and the week before I was feeling lots of flutters etc.  I am not too worried as there is lots of room in there and the baby has likely just moved around.

  • Yep, I was feeling lots of movement and could feel it getting stronger.  Then for the past 5 or 6 days I felt barely anything at all (wasn't even sure it was the baby anymore) and I was worried sick, but we had our anatomy scan this morning and he/she is perfectly fine...so try not to worry, it's still early :)
  • Yes!  I worry all the time, but when I listen to the doppler I can hear him/her moving around in there.  It's amazing sometimes how much I can hear the baby moving, but just can't feel it.

  • Same thing has been happening to me.  I feel way less movement.  I have a regularly scheduled OB appt tomorrow so I was trying to hold off till then to ask Dr/see LO on ultrasound.  After reading this post, my mind is put at ease :)
  • My LO did this to me, they say its nothing to worry about!Smile

  • Same thing happened to me too! Wheeew...
  • Have you eaten really salty food in the past couple days? Maybe drink some water.

I guess I am the biggest worry wort in this room lol. After thanksgiving dinner my little boy stopped moving. For the next 24hrs I felt nothing. It really shook me up, because at 19 weeks he was so active and then it drastically stopped.

I decided to call the nurse and she was concerned. I was instructed to drink 1 liter of water as fast as I could, lay down for an hr and count his kicks. She told me to not watch TV or get distracted, just count kicks and she would call me back.

As soon as I downed all that water and laid down on my side I felt 7 kicks within the hr. Nurse called back and was really happy to hear the news. She said anything fewer than 5 an hr was reason for concern.

Anyways, long story short...I was dehydrated.

  • I get a bit worried when I don't feel much movement for a day or so, but then usually the next day peanut makes up for it lol. I figure like anybody they have their high energy days and their lower energy days. It also depends on the position baby is in and the position you are in. I've noticed that the days I'm walking a lot I don't notice a whole lot of movement.. where as the days at work where I'm sitting all day I notice every little thing lol.
