Does your house look like a tornado hit?

It is starting to get to me. As much as I clear up toys and books, they are constantly on the floor. It is never ending. ::pout::

Re: Does your house look like a tornado hit?

  • Yes. I have a 3 year old and a 16 month old. There's nothing to stop it.

  • I usually say that it looks like Fisher Price threw up in my living room.
  • Yup! However, lately, I'm happy he is playing and making a mess with toys instead of dragging out everything from the cabinets. That sucks even worse.
  • Every day.  I try to pick up while she's napping, but I don't let it bother me...much.  Wink

  • Yes.  He's happy to have a turn with the broom, or the vacuum, and when I give him a cloth or paper towel he runs over to the coffee table to "dust" it for me, but he also gleefully chucks his toys and books all over the place.  I can't even keep up with one little boy's toys.

  • We got a good storage unit in both rooms she usually plays in. I spend about 10 minutes after she goes to bed each night and that usually takes care of it.
  • Always.  Cleaning up at night feels like I am just setting the stage for tomorrows show.

  • Sure does.  And yet, here I sit ... bumping instead of cleaning :)

  • No, but I keep the bulk of the kids toys in their rooms.  I get out a few for DS each day and put them in his shopping cart to take to the family room.  He also has a kitchen with food and his take and play thomas stuff in there, so it works fine.  DD makes a bigger mess, but it is pretty easy to clean up with the storage bins we have.  I kind of pick up through the day.
  • Yes. I literally cringe to walk in my door in the evenings.

Usually the downstairs isn't too horrible, but we're mid-decorating for Christmas & Christmas gifts are PILED on the dining room table.

The upstairs looks like Fisher Price threw up, as the PP said.  & the laundry in the master bedroom is absolutely shameful.

  • yes, our house is clean but messy (toys, books, plastic spoon ecc are everywhere)

    DH and I don't mind :)

  • Absolutely!  Except recently I bought a new console table with baskets, so I've been making myself pick up everynight.  It makes me feel better.
  • During the day, the living room gets messy with toys.

That's about it.  Jake doesn't really have access to anywhere else. He doesn't need to, the living room/dining room is plenty big enough for him to spread out and play.

  • Yes. All the time. Laundry is never folded/put away. We are the absolute worst for that. Toys get shoved into his toy area. Last night I finally vaccumed and it felt really good. Today I wiped down the kitchen, swept, wiped down his high chair and table. So Im rewarding myself with bumping for a bit ;)

  • In the two hours the girls get home from daycare until they go to sleep, there is crap everywhere.  We have toy bins that they like to take off the shelves and empty out.  Then of course they like to play with oven mitts, wooden spoons and bowls.  There is a trail from the liviing room to the kitchen and back again.

DH and I clean it up everynight after they go to bed.  I wouldnt be able to sleep knowing there was a mess in the living room.

haha!  DH and I say the same thing!

Anywhere DS has been looks like a disaster area.  He was playing in his room once while I folded laundry and when I walked in EVERY diaper, book and stuffed animal was on the floor.  I will clean up after him right away, unless it is the playroom. We just do that after he goes to bed.

  • We have hardwood floors and no playroom, so I bought a cheap 6x9 area rug and put it against the far wall of the living room.  Her toys end up all over the house, but at night I try (TRY being the key word) to push them all back onto the rug.  I don't organize them or even bother to put them in the toy box, I just try to shove them all on the rug.  Somehow having them all in one place, even if they are still piled up on the floor makes me feel better.  I'm a SAHM, so it sometimes seems like a waste of time to organize it all after she goes to bed, only to get it all out the next morning.
  • yes it's mostly in his room (So I can't pick up when he is napping, but I try to pick up before bed time) but then also the kitchen in his "toy corner" like pp had said it looks like Fisher Price & leap frog throw up
  • A tornado of toys? yes
  • Yes.  It's a mess!

  • Daily. It is absolutely ridiculous. I clean up every night after DS goes to bed, and it looks the same about a half an hour after he wakes up the next morning :(

  • It's a wreck.  I used to clean up as DS played, and while he napped, and after he went to bed, and now, I've pretty much dropped back to just when he goes to bed.  Today though, today I've caught his cold, so short of him tearing down my Christmas tree, I really don't care what he does.
  • DS's nickname is Hurricane Evan.  I think that says it all.
