My SIL is hijacking Christmas...

...and I want to strangle her.

On Thanksgiving, my DH's brother and his wife and kids couldn't come, because my SIL told my FIL that they were going to her parents' house. Well Sunday we all had dinner together, and she revealed that they slept most of the day Thanksgiving. So really, she blew us off. But she had been nagging my FIL about our plans for Christmas, and he said he didn't want to plan anything without talking to me first, because he wasn't sure what would be happening, since we're due Christmas Eve.

So Thanksgiving, my MIL and FIL and I (and DH) decided that getting together 12/18 would be OK, and if we have a baby by then (or are in the hospital), we'll postpone until January. No prob. So we tell my SIL about this, and she automatically TELLS (not asks, not discusses, but TELLS) us that she will make lasagna (really? no ham?) and that we can make Christmas cookies. Sorry. I made my Christmas cookies this year already, biitch, and I am not going to spend my Christmas get together with family in the kitchen. (Really, who makes cookies at their get-together?) Plus, I already said I was bringing a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.

AND... she said, "Let's get together at 1. And the lasagna will be ready for supper." So that means I will be held hostage at my IL's house for at least 5 hours... I think it's ridiculous that we are getting together so early for supper... So luckily I can play the "I'm exhausted" card and show up late and leave right after dinner.

OK, end rant. It just pisses me off to no end when people plan everything without really discussing it with the other people it affects.

    It sounds like she has an image in her head of what she wants to have happen at Christmas.  You should ruin it by going into labor on the 18th...after she has already started making the lasagna!

    That is a great idea. DH and I have already said that I will probably be "very uncomfortable" that day and we will have to cut it short. My MIL said I probably wouldn't want to help with baking, but I can always add sprinkles to the sugar cookies. Hell to the no. I am sitting on my arse and playing with my new presents with DH and FIL. BIL can watch his demon children.
