As I'm finishing up DD's birthday Thank you notes,I'm confused as to whether or not to send one in particular.A friend came to the party (barely-arrived late, left early), didn't eat, gave a card with a Monkey Joe's frequent user card that you can just get at the place. Her kid didn't really fit in with the others (very anti-social),played alone and never came into the party room to sing/have cake/open gifts.....So do I just thank her for making an appearance and not mention the MJ's card? Honestly, she wouldn't care at all if I sent one or not - she doesn't believe in proper etiquette of such. But I do.....
Re: Do I send a 'thank you' card??
I'd send a thank you card just thanking them for coming. Lame on their part but its just common courtesy on yours
This exactly.
Thanks for the responses.I will definitely send a card. I just don't know how best to say 'thanks for coming' and then what else? Can't say we had fun playing, let's do it again.... Ugh.
Maybe it's just me, but what's wrong with just saying that "thanks for coming" or "it was nice to see you, thanks for joining us on ____'s birthday" and if it wasn't at least nice to see your friend why was she there? kwim?
I'm obviously alone on this, but I truly don't udnerstand the point of sending "thanks for attending" cards. I've never gotten one, and never sent one.
I know people started doing this w/ weddings, but now it's moved to b-day parties too?
Oy.

I agree. I only send thank yous for gifts. If she just gave a card I wouldn't send a card for a card. Seems strange to me.
Yes, send a thank you.
And next time, don't invite her..... since you obviously don't give a flip if she comes or not.
