(oh good lord, I'm lumped in this group at the moment. holy chit!)
The (two) black blobs (sacs? what are they called?) they are in are two very different sizes. Like, the one measuring on time is actually in the smaller of the sacs, and that was the one we saw clearly last week.
The bugger that snuck in is in a BIG sac, about 3 times the size of Baby A.
The u/s tech said it's not indicitive of anything, and no reason to worry. I forgot to ask the doc in my excitement.
What can you tell me about these said blobs? lol. thx.
Re: Moms who have been pregnant with twins (or more)
Our beautiful son was born July 2008.
2010: 2 IVF's,1 FET = 2 BFN's, 1 c/p
Feb 2011-Unmedicated FET= BFP!! DS #2 born Oct 2011!!.
Our Thanksgiving Day baby 11/22/07
Pregnant with #2 with LPD, uterine polyp/hysteroscopy, DOR (AMH = 0.17), 2 c/ps
Our early Christmas present 12/9/10
The explanation I was given has to do with ultrasound equipment trying to turn 2 very small 3d objects into a 2d image. It all has to do with their relative closeness to the wand, and the angle the wand is being held at. As you move the wand and the perspectives/angles between the 2 objects and the wand changes, their perceived size changes as well. Here are 2 ultrasounds from my first appt, taken within 2-3 minutes at most of one another.
ooooooh, so they're likely more the same same, than drastically different in sizes, just the angle. huh.
now.... blobs? what ARE they? lol.
Could one look bigger because of the angle of the u/s?
Congrats!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
The sonolucent center is actually the fluid-filled chorionic sac.
It's basically the gestational sac:
Gestational SacThe gestational sac is the earliest sonographic finding in pregnancy. The gestational sac appears as an echogenic (bright echoes) ring surrounding a sonolucent (clear) center. The gestational sac does not correspond to specific anatomic structures, but is an ultrasonic finding characteristic of early pregnancy.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
innnnteresting. thanks!
SacBlob. lol.
I had two different sized blobs - one was HUGE and the other one was tiny. I was convinced the itty bitty one wasn't going to make it (not to mention we didn't even seen him/her at the first u/s).
My RE said it didn't matter, one twin just had a bigger apartment than his brother (his exact words).
Congrats!!!
4 Fresh IVF cycles + 1 FET where embies didn't survive the thaw = 2 perfect little men!
sFET 11/9/11 - Beta 11/18 BFP!
holy crap! I don't check for a bit and WOW!! First.. congrats girl! yes.. just the gestional sac as others of have said. Mine were different also, but I assumed one of mine was bigger cause well.. there were two in the one!
Was reading other posts and on the due date thing.. even I was never given a different due date than my real 40 week due date. That was the only calculation and date we used. The only other thing I had was a "goal" date as a triplet pregnancy is considered fullterm at 34 weeks and it's at 34 that my hospital would allow my dr. to schedule me for a c section. And from what I know.. twin pregnancies never go off anything but the 40 week date either and are not considered full term at any other date. Obviously, they go earlier for sure, but many do make the 38-40 week points. I just found that odd that your dr would talk a different due date. So strange.
the "blob" is the gestational sac, the round thing in each of them is the yolk sac. the size of the gestational sac is nothing to worry about.
the thing that matters most is the crown to rump length of the fetus. and occasionally, like in my case with baby b, the yolk sac can become oversized in relation to the fetus which can indicate problems.
Mine were different sizes at different angles as well.
Are you going to name these guys? SacBlob and BlobSac?

I asked this more than one time and the u/s tech (who is very knowledgeable) told me that it was the view that the camera was at.
one of my sacs was larger than the other... RE guessed it was a late implanter at first, but both babies measured within 1-2 days of each other at each u/s. sorry this is pic heavy, but you can see the sac size well:
5w4d (tiny spot of yolk sac in one on right):
6w4d (heartbeats seen):
7w1d:
8w4d:
It could be nothing, or it could be a set of identicals... now that would be a jaw dropper! lol
We had two sacs at my 1st u/s and one was really large. Next u/s found out there were id in the larger one.
You take that back RIGHT NOW. I told these kids NO SPLITTING! and I meant it. Two I can do. Three? Notsomuch.
