Where are my team green girls at!?!?

(I should add that I HATE calling it team green, mehhh.  I'm all for blue/pink I just don't want to know until they arrive)

My anatomy scan isn't for a few more weeks but do you not get to watch the u/s as much...like is it THAT obvious?  I'm worried that if I pay attention I might see or not see something and then spend the second half of this pregnancy guessing.  I really want to keep it a surprise...one of the last few we get in life right??

By the way I was so happy that when I told my family over the holiday they were totally supportive of not finding out the gender, love that we didn't have to explain ourselves!

  • We were team green w/ DD too, and we got to watch all of her 20-wk u/s.  ;)  The tech didn't even scan for gender, so we were able to see it all.  On a subsequent u/s they were looking for a deformity she had w/ her legs, so they had to scan really close to her hips, etc., so then they just turned the screen when they got close to that area just in case--but we still saw the majority of it.  There was never any indication that DD was a either a girl or a boy from any of the techs or dr.'s we worked with--everyone was very respectful of our decision to wait.

I will say, the random tech I saw at the hospital last week, however, was not so courteous.  We told her we were team green, and then she proceeded to tell us she didn't see anything 'poking out', so now DH is convinced we're having another girl--I think she was just casually joking, but I guess we'll find out in May!

  • I found that if you tell the tech right away, they make a point to not get obvious shots. They certainly won't give you a picture that shows anything. I don't think I could figure it out anyways :)

  • We are team green this time! Our office gives us a video so I am sure that there will be some "shots". For sure this will not be shown to my mother. She worked L&D for years and can definitely read an u/s...when my aunt was team green with her last child, my mom said "hey, thats a girl". (After 2 boys).
  • They won't do the traditional "toilet seat" shot if you're team green.  We were able to watch the u/s with no problems with DS.  We were given a dvd of it and there was one point where he rolled over, legs spread and we got a crotch shot, but pausing at different points made it look like different things and it definitely wasn't conclusive as to what we saw.  It happened quickly though so I wouldn't have been able to see anything without being able to pause the shot.

  • I wasn't TG last time but we saw the whole u/s.  It wasn't until the tech deliberately positioned the u/s at the baby's crotch that we got any glimpse down there (although she was a girl, so that is less obvious anyway haha).  So you should still be able to see a lot of the u/s.

  • I'm not worried about it and will watch the whole ulrasound.  I can't tell what half the stuff is unless the tech tells me what it is.  Plus if you see something that makes it look like it could be a boy....it could be the cord.

  • We are 'Team Green' as well.  I think for the first baby (or 2nd, 3rd, etc...) is is exciting to wait to find out the sex.  And many of my friends who did wait to find out said it was the most amazing surprise ever.  The only time I get bummed of not knowing is when I find a REALLY cute outfit at Target and I can't buy it because I don't know the sex.  Does anyone have any feelings or idea of what they are having??  So far I feel that we are having a girl...but who knows, right?
  • DH and I are hoping that the u/s tech doesn't slip up and tell us what we are having. We are going to make it very clear that we do not want to know until the delivery room. We just hope that the baby isn't as sleepy as it was at the NT scan or the u/s tech might not get all of the measurements needed at the anatomy scan.
