L&D Visit...

Today's OB appointment got totally out of hand!  I went for my first internal/Strep B test, not expecting anything else to come of it.  My first blood pressure reading was high, 152/99.  Not the first time it was bad on the first take, so he let me sit for a little bit after the main events were done to relax some before taking it again.  The second reading came as 152/100, so I got sent to L&D for BP monitoring.  Yay!

The nurses were super great about everything.  They asked Ethan's name and talked to him a lot while I was there.   I was on the cuff that automatically turns on every 15 minutes... that thing hurts!   The readings on my BPs were a roller coaster ride!  I'd have 3-4 really bad numbers followed by 2-3 good ones, and so on.  My blood work came back fine, just needed more potassium.  Took those pills, then around of labetalol for the BP. 

I was having spots in front of my eyes, paired with my constant swollen state, so they kept me for 5 hours before the readings were good enough for them to let me go.  I got a prescription for the labetalol and was told to rest for the day. 

Thanks for reading all that, I know it's long and drawn out.  At least my little guy is still cooking away in there.  Had things gotten worse, they would have made him a mutineer!

    Good luck!  Are you back at home now?  Last week I got my first high BP reading and had to stay at the doctor's office for about 2 hours until my BP went down.  I have another doctor's appt today and am so nervous that I'm going to get a high reading again today and they'll shuffle me off to L&D.
