I know lots of people have names with interesting stories. For instance, DH likes to tease me by calling our little embryo "Ebry," but mostly we just call him/her "baby."
What do you do?

I know it sounds wierd....but sometimes we call it Bieb (Justin Biebers song, Baby, Baby, Baby...however it goes). I refer to its fruit name of the week too sometimes....

A long time ago my husband read the word gnocchi and pronounced it "ga-nocchi." So, that's always been a running joke. Somehow, it's become the name for the baby too. As in, "how's my little ga-nocchi doing?" Ha!

anyway, sounds sorta awful, but we lovingly call it "the parasite" (i read somewhere how a fetus-mother relationship is parasitic in the way the it takes nutrients from mom!). we try not to refer to it as "baby" at this point, or use "real" names, because it is still so early & we don't want to count our chickens before they hatch, so to speak (we had a loss in February- that one we called "spot" because that's all it looked like in the first ultrasound). Fingers crossed the parasite sticks and we make it to 2nd tri so we can starting thinking of a nicer name

too funny, we call our one dog this (the shih tzu)... His name is Baxter and I usually call him B Boy or B Bear... B Bear turned into Bieber, and now he is just "The Bieb", lol.
We call the baby either "the babe" or "nugget".... H also calls it "the monkey"... I don't think we have a real nickname quite yet....
Peanut. At first we had a couple of names tossed around. I liked punkin' but DH didn't. We would sometime call it whatever the size reference was that week (pea, blueberry) but the peanut seems to have stuck.
We change with the week b/c I think it's hilarious that those tickers tell you the size of the baby via a fruit. So, this week it's raspberry. Next week is olive, etc. We're creative, huh?
DH and I refer to baby as "nugget" haha probably not very sweet but so appropriate for us.
We call the baby " the Nugget" as well. Randomly my Dad inadvertently called the baby "Buckets" (how he got Buckets from Nugget I'll never know) and now my DH and sister have been calling the baby by that name. Ugh! I know they're doing it to annoy me, and they're succeeding! Poor lil Buckets...I mean Nugget!

We call it Maple Crunchy - after one of DS's favorite snacks. Not sure why, but it started one day and has stuck! Every other day, DH asks about Maple Crunchy's progress.

hi all, so excited to find the July 2011 group!

LOL, my Dh refers to LO as "Slurpee" since we're due in 711 (7-2011).
Make me crave a slurpee all.the.time though!

We call baby either little bear or little one. We also call each other bear as a term of affection
