In The Hospital

I was but on bed rest last week for high BP.  When I went in today, my BP was still super high and my blood platelets were low.  I was admitted right into the hospital.   Here I am being monitored for BP and doing a 24 hr urine analysis.  My blood results came back even lower!!  With low platelets, you are not allowed to get an epidural or a spinal.  So that means.....I will have to be put under completely for a c section and DH is not allowed in the room :O(   And they try to get the baby out in 2 minutes before the anesthesia hits the baby!! I am hoping we can wait until 37 weeks....but they are already staring the steroid shots!  Here's hoping for healthy lungs.

  • Thinking of you!

How low are your platlets right now? I had the SAME thing  and they left it up to  anesthesia if they would do a spinal or GA. I got lucky and was able to be awake for his delivery even though my OB prepared me not to be. My platlets were high 70's an hour before delivery.

I'll send many prayers, I know how scared you must be.

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone :O)  I am actually pretty calm right now....not much of a freaker outer!  Just hoping I can wait until 37 weeks.  My count was 87 last week and 80 now....so it's dropping!  Did your levels go back to normal after delivery?

Yup, my levels climbed back to normal, I dont remember if it was a day or a few days. Everything was such a blur. But my levels went from 130's to 80's to 70's all with in 12 hours, I was in full blown HELLP syndrome. I'm sure your clear of that if your liver enzymes have remained normal.

I just wanted to share my story in hopes you know a spinal c-section is still a small possibility. But in either way, your baby is at a comfortable gestation to be born vs 24-26-28 weeks. That makes me smile. But I do hope you can hold out to 37!!
