First BH's...now Kidney stones!

This little one inside of me sure likes to cause problems!  And he chooses the 1 year anniversary of our loss to scare us, I think he needs a time out :)

I ended up at the hospital last night for a probable kidney stone....let me tell you, it is not fun!  I was pretty busy all afternoon because we got our nursery furniture delivered, so I was putting the crib together and hanging stuff in his room.  When I went to the bathroom right after I put Noah to bed I noticed a small clot in the toilet and some blood on the TP (insert major meltdown here)  I didn't think it was from overdoing myself because the crib was really easy to put together....no heavy lifting.  I didn't do anything more strenuous than normally chasing a 2 year old around.  I layed down, drank some juice and thankfully felt him move pretty quickly.

I started having some very low pelvic pain and right sided back pain that got bad pretty quickly, so we put in a call to the OB.  She confirmed my thoughts that it was probably a stone, so we headed into L&D.  I think the stone must have passed through my ureter during the car ride because I was in extreme pain at the point.  I got all checked out and I was feeling a lot better so they let me go home thankfully.  They think it was just a small stone that scraped down my ureter causing all the blood.  If it was small, I don't want to feel a large one!

Now I've got a follow up appointment this afternoon and Noah is at Grandma's so I'm just going to take it easy today.  I'm officially going to skip the 28th from now on...I've been in the hospital for two years in a row on that day!

  • Oh no!  I am so sorry to hear you had to go to the hospital yesterday.  I was almost there with you too... boo!  Why is it that pg is a constant battle?  I am glad it was just a stone and that you are feeling better!

  • I'm so glad it was just a stone, but WHAT a scare! I have never had kidney stones before but I hear they are terrible. Sorry you had to deal with that and I hope you get lots of rest today.

  • Oh no! What are the chances of it being on the same day? Crazy! Hope you are feeling better.  Kidney stones are painful and no fun at all!
